How does him interviewing Tyson Fury in any way confirm that Farhad and the board read Twitter and think “oh no, Gary from Kent called Brands a nob, the fan base is turning, this isn’t good.”
I explicitly said that I am fully aware Everton do not look at what Gary from Kent is saying.

They do however use social media to track trends. They use it to gauge fan reaction to certain things.

If the fan channels and podcasts and blogs are full of criticism, it is only so long until - given the way modern media works - that leaks into the mainstream press. It is only so long until the minor shareholders start asking questions, when they get the chance. They didn't this year as such because it was a preset presentation with a very brief Q&A at the AGM.

Every club uses social media to a very large extent these days, not just for outreach. That was my point. And a point I explicitly caveated with that I know full well Farhad isn't going to look at what Gary from Kent is saying and make up his mind based on that.

I don’t pay for The Athletic.
Okay, so all we can do is reference what it says. They speak to people including Keith Wyness who was Chief Exec here and it says
"Wyness agrees social media can be “vicious”, and in his time at Villa used a “dashboard” to monitor fan online sentiment. “It would pick up keywords in tweets and pick up dissatisfaction or trends about issues important to the fanbase,” he says. “It would be an early warning system more than anything else, whether it be if you want to change a club crest, the new shirt or transfer targets.”"

Considering every other tweet by fans is negative on every single issue, even positive tweets, I’d imagine they just want to implode the club at this point then. Reviewing Twitter for anything meaningful from fans as a level just slightly above using Reddit.

I listed a bit of my portfolio because I don't like being treated like I'm some spotty kid who writes up a fake transfer rumour for a site that pays me 12p.

Anyway, i don't blame him for our players not being able to pass 5 yards, or Carlo deciding he really doesn't trust Gordon.

Just don't want any excuses for the state of that squad today.

Would understand if we had a forward or two out injured, or it was the end of the season and we were getting through it.

But we're halfway through the season, find ourselves in with a great shout of top six if not more, and we're left with that.

It's not on, and that's not the same as demanding we go and spend £40m on a player either (as much as I'd love Leon Bailey or Zaha or whoever to rock up on Monday).

One thing I don’t understand is Brands getting all the praise when we sell another deadwood player, is he on the phone day and night to clubs trying to get them to buy our deadwood? I would have thought the person that deserves that praise would be said players agent.

And, whisper it quietly, but who has he actually 'got rid of'?

Not many. And I appreciate that's a hard thing to do, I do. I've stood up for him on that.

But loaning out Walcott and paying him £60k a week to play for a PL rival is not 'getting rid' of him.

Of players we actually didn't want, I don't think we've sold many since that first summer, when Klaassen and Vlasic went. Rooney went, but wasn't sold.

Mirallas was here until we terminated his deal, same with Sandro. Bolasie is still technically ours. We paid part of Besic's wage for his year at Sheff Utd.Paid a chunk of Lossl's wage during his spell back at Huddersfield – and he was signed under Brands of course.

Tosun is still ours, even with this loan, though at least his wages are off the books.

We've managed to sell Bernard by the looks of it, so at least there's that and he's a massive earner. But we're going to almost certainly have Delph on our books one way or the other until next summer, cause I doubt anyone will pay a fee for him or pay his circa £80k per-week wage.

We've sold one player for profit - Gueye - who Brands didn't sign and arguably I'd say let go on the cheap at £30m for a player of his quality considering who we were selling to at the time, but understand Gueye wanted to go. Then again, he was on a long-term deal.

The lack of a new contract speaks volumes

Nowhere near enough progress in 3 years.

He's out on his ear hopefully - Moshiri doesn't strike me as having much patience and if Usmanov is involved he wont have been happy with all that dough having been spunked on tosh like Iwobi, Delph, Kean, Gomes, Bernard etc.

When you look at the recruitment of clubs around us its night and day.

He takes what he wants though.

Told you all at the start.

You would turn on him.

In all seriousness, I think he's a good negotiator, generally speaking. I think he's got a good set up in place.

I just don't think he sees some blatant needs for the squad.
