...different titles but the scope of the role will be similar.

Personally, I think it’s more about the right person than the right job title. Its a significantly key role, we’ve seen how disastrous it can be with Steve Walsh. I’m fairly ambivalent to whether Brands stays or not, its not difficult to be an improvement on his predecessor but much will depend on whether a replacement has been lined up.
I dont think Brands is big enough for this role. We saw how he was swept aside when Slva was sacked.

He signed Allan and James
He did not know Doucoure and Godfrey and has said as much
I doubt he knew anything about Nkounkou either
How can you support a man who has clearly failed in his job for 3 years?

We have a limited squad in terms of talent and we'll miss out on Europe again because of that, not the manager's ability.

Dave he was left a load of trash
I can’t see players lining up to sign for Marco Silva
He still has a lot of deadwood to shift
Yes he made mistakes but so did Ferguson , Wenger , Moyes , Klopp etc
You name me one manager or DOF who has never made a failed signing
Iwobi and Delph apart from that the rest are either excellent , very good or average

I don't get the love in for Brands, as I personally think he's a hyped up overpaid Steve Walsh; although I was excited when we got him, which is probably why I'm more disappointed than most.

He's brought some very good signings in and has wasted a large amount of money on poor ones. For me his main role should be player acquisition and you only have to look at the bench we have, to highlight that he hasn't done that very well.

He has got lucky IMO, in that players like Keane, Mina, Davies, Gylfi, DCL and now Pickford have all improved this season; which is down to Carlo and his team. If we never got Carlo in, we would be much lower in the league than we are now and that would be on Brands.
