No need to split Carlo and Brands. They are hand in glove. The dream team. The Professor and the Architect. Two sides of the same successful coin. Sit back and watch them take us to the top.

I don't get the love in for Brands, as I personally think he's a hyped up overpaid Steve Walsh; although I was excited when we got him, which is probably why I'm more disappointed than most.

He's brought some very good signings in and has wasted a large amount of money on poor ones. For me his main role should be player acquisition and you only have to look at the bench we have, to highlight that he hasn't done that very well.

He has got lucky IMO, in that players like Keane, Mina, Davies, Gylfi, DCL and now Pickford have all improved this season; which is down to Carlo and his team. If we never got Carlo in, we would be much lower in the league than we are now and that would be on Brands.

I don't get the love in or the hate to be honest, we all know that all signings are done at a club level.

Players will move to clubs for several reasons, i.e. James has worked well together previously with Ancelloti so that was a massive factor but he would not have come if he did not feel there was a stable club environment to come to or the financial package was not right, which are other peoples responsibilities.

Also, how is the improvement of players that he had zero involvement in anything to do with anything.

Have a just seen someone complaining because Southampton have done better business than us? WTF
They develop youth players and buy in from lower leagues and then sell on for a profit, which is exactly what Brands has now been tasked with, I believe.

This is the reason we are where we are in the league, in spite of the poor acquisition from Marcel.

Whoever ends up taking over from Brands (should he leave), won't have to do too much in order to better their predecessor.

That works for Dortmund because they're consistently in the CL.

Try that in the Prem, and you're likely to get Southampton results. There are just too many well-funded sides at the top, and you can leak points even to the relegation candidates.

Do you not think that playing with better players around them could be also seen as a reason for the improvement. The biggest example is Davies, Doucoure is a massive boost for Davies best position and playing style. It is never as binary as you think, there are decimal points between the 1's and 0's and there are multiple factors that go towards development, recruitment & coaching.

In other words, I don't think good coaching should be used as a negative on him as an individual. We could then easily say that Godfrey is only a good player because of Ancelotti and he is lucky. That is unfair to judge his work on the quality of the coaching team.

As somebody previously said they are a team (with others involved as well) and the club should be judged as a team, without being in the meetings of every recruitment discussion we just don't know what percentage to attribute each and every signing to. Their are overall responsibilities but the ins and outs of who found this player and who persuaded who (Doucoure aside) is virtually unknown to us.

As a club we are improving the playing staff, now for us to continue.
