If we bought him for £22.5/£25mil rising to £27.5mil.

Lets say we got a loan fee of £5mil last season...then we get a loan fee of £10mil this coming season = £15mil.

This means that:

1: His book value to us for FFP purposes next summer is 0 so were into pure profit on the books for a sale.

2: Ignoring FFP weve basically got back £15mil so effectively weve just got to get back £7.5mil/£10mil next summer to breakeven.

So depending on the actual loan fee it could be pretty good for us next summer.

Also a £10mil loan fee this summer gives us £50mil to spend on players if theyre on 5 year deals.

His current book value is 16.8 mill mate. Hard to say what the loan fee is, but if we’re taking less than 5 mill and them paying his wage we are mugs.

How have you come to £16.8mil ?

Loan fee my guess would be £5mil last year and we'd be asking £8-10mil this year.

Next year a sale would work wonders for FFP.

His book liability started at 28 mill mate, his annual amortisation is 5.6 million.

I would suspect or not far off PSG are paying his annual amortisation (maybe even a premium of top) and picking up his wage, so something like a deal to the value of 8.5 mill. Maybe a bit more.

In terms of teams in pursuit of Europe - Leicester, Villa, Wolves doing business, Utd and soon to be Arsenal as well.

And we wonder why we never qualify for Europe these days when our DOF works at the pace of a snail. Same story every season new signings not given enough time pre season to bed into the squad and be ready from fixture one.

It always amuses me the way people direct their frustration at Brands. He's been here about 3 years and not much has changed in that time. Nor have things changed much with any high profile appointment to the board over the last 15 years.

It's almost as if there's something else, something bigger, that's the problem. I just can't quite put my finger on it.

In the time he has been here as DoF how many managers have the club had, just think how difficult it was for him. If he had not been here and it had just been down to managers getting players we would have been in a far greater mess.

Not only that, but it's become quite clear that Brands doesn't have the control or influence that we expected him to have. He clearly wasn't involved in appointing our new manager.

Other people are making decisions he should be allowed to make.

100%. We have already seen Moshiri openly state in his interview with White the other day that the thought process behind hiring the last several managers was completely down to him. He's also given interviews where he has stated he has scouted players for the club.

Faced with such knowledge its not a stretch to assume our DoF is effectively being sidelined, not due to his own incompetence or lack of professionalism neccessarily, but because of the whims of a modern-day Nero, who believes his majority shareholding entitles him to ride roughshod over even those with football acumen.

My take on Brands now is that he's here been made into an ordinary director to put his signature to a number of stadium related companies; to act as an agency linking academy to first team; and for any connections he has in the world of player transfers including scouts and agents on the continent.

It's a smorgasbord role.

He's gone from being hired as a specialist brought into transform the club, to one where he's asked to do odds and sods here and there to make his presence useful.

Getting your excuses in early for the "Gaffer"?

Yeah, it looks that way, and what a shame!
What we needed after Roberto Martinez or Koeman was a proper revamp of coaching, development, fitness, physio, and a 3=5 year plan to develop the First XI
What we seem to have is a chelsea approach without that quality of player and amount of finance!

They had managers in place. If Ancelloti had not done a bunk might have been a different story.
