Marcelo Bielsa

Sorry, thats just wrong. We had a few hammerings from top teams when we put kids out. Marsch did ANYTHING but steady the ship. We sacked Bielsa when we where on 23 points after 22 games, in 15th place - 6 points above the relegation zone. At the end of the season, we stayed up on the final day with an away win, whilst relying on Burnley losing at home to Newcastle. Which happened, against the odds. If you call that steadying the ship then we can just agree to disagree.
Defensively you were awful under Bielsa, I mean we don't beat anybody 3-0.

…..I genuinely have no idea. I’m no expert on the global market but I know the attributes we should be looking for;

- ambitious, progressive (looking to progress his career).
- a clear vision of how he‘d organise this squad & a strategy for going forward.
- a record of immediately improving a poor team.

Of those linked I’d much prefer the bloke at West Brom, I’d even prefer Davide Ancelotti even though he clearly doesn’t tick all of those boxes.

No idea why the club are trying to entice the Managers of two teams who were actually worst than Everton last season. Let that sink in, Everton want two Managers who performed worst than a dire Everton team last season.

Bielsa does fall into those 3 categories, does he not?

I don’t know whose side I’m on in this argument but looking at results bielsa won 5 in 26 that season and marsch 4 in 12 , tough to say he hasn’t turned the form around a bit there .

If other teams , notably Burnley performed significantly better then isn’t the point you’d have probably gone with bielsa and they’d have gone earlier with Dyche ? Which in no way helps my deliberations.

9 of his 10 club jobs have lasted less than 2 years, his average length of service in club management is probably about 9 months, and he’s about to turn 68. He could not be less of a long term manager if he tried.
How long was he at Leeds? Even if we get 3 years atleast will sign quality players.

Yeah, that was a terrible game in the middle of a bad patch. That happens to everyone though. Liverpool shipped 7 at Villa not that long ago, you lot shipped a bagful of goals against Bournemouth twice in a week whilst playing a defensive set-up. Bielsa' first season we had the 5th best defensive record in the league with a defense including Cooper, Alioski and Ayling. His undoing was trying to play the same way in a massive injury crisis and a team full of kids against the very best teams in the league. Don't listen to Neville, Souness and Keane - look at the record. Best defense in the championship 2 seasons running, 5th best in the prem first season then we shipped 20 goals in 4 games playing kamikaze style against Liverpool, City, Spurs and Arsenal. To see that and say 'defensively awful' is to take half a dozen games and disregard the previous 120.

One of a few incredibly wrong assumptions about Bielsa tbh.

"He's the guy for a long term project" - no, he isn't, not necessarily anyway.
"Win lose or draw, at least it'll be entertaining" - no, Bielsaball done badly would be as bad as Dycheball done badly. When it's your club, only winning is entertaining.

He’s not coming back is he?
Bielsa will send us down we don't have the players or the time to get used to his system before the end of the season and then we'll turn to our old mate Big Sam to save our club for the 2nd time.

We could cut out the middle man and avoid an embarrassing relegation by getting Allerdyce in now while we've got a few days left in the window to get some players in for him.

Sell Gordon, get Carroll, Walcott back, maybe coax Mark Noble out of retirement. Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Carroll up front. Play for 2nd balls. Get some passion and solidity in the defence and we can have another great 8th place finish under Sam.

Blue skies ahead. Gwladys end will be rocking every time we have a shot on target just like last time.
Gwladys end?

Yes there have been some bad ones and this one's up there with them and I've been watching us since the 60s.
I think it you put strength of character in there with ability then factor in the balance of the squad , even considering walter’s 14 centre halves , this lot look like they might take some beating . Hopefully they’ll force me to change my Mind though .
