Marcelo Bielsa

….thats what I find amazing. He sits on a bucket, he doesn’t conform to authority and people are endeared to him but he was sacked by Leeds last season. He managed a team that conceded 13 more goals and scored less than an Everton team that escaped relegation by the skin of their teeth.

Fans like him but just look at Leeds last season and it beggars belief fans want him.
You
I think Bielsa is a natural fit for what Everton are as a club.

Unfortunately we've gone so far away from our core characteristics that we can't play aggressive high tempo football. We don't have the players to play Bielsa ball, but I think his style is what we should aspire towards.

I don't want to see another slow build up, short passing sideways and back, Everton team ever again.
I think he would have been a great fit for Everton, just not at this stage in a season.

Klopp had a disaster season at Dortmund, doesn’t mean he is awful. We can’t really judge a manager base on a single stats.

Of cos Bielsa is not as good, but he does emphasis on high energy game which is the core problem within the squad for years, I’ve seen what this squad is capable of if they can perform at the required level and we can definitely survive relegation provided the players buy into his philosophy. We must address our biggest weakness, any manager that has a solution will be successful, it’s not about being progressive at this stage.

….we are in a situation with literally days of the window left. The reality is, whoever comes in has to largely work with what we have.

When Leeds were in free fall last season, Bielsa didn’t have the coaching capacity to arrest the slide. Folk are banking on him immediately introducing a new style to this group of players. I imagine he knows that isn’t likely, but some of are fans and our owner think it is.

If anybody has time, watch Everton v Leeds towards the end of last season & look at how his struggling team play.

I suggest you watch how we played that day and find me another game that we had the same desire and energy level. Like I say it was Lampard first game and the players perform like they were on steroid, we outplayed them because of our hard work more than anything else. Not really a good indication of both managers ability.

Bielsa picked up a poor leeds side and immediately transform them overnight and remain consistent for 3 years, I’d be happy if he can transform us for 3 months .

Shame, would have liked to see Bielsa back in the Prem.

He may well have taken you down (as might anyone else in fairness), but that's not necessarily a bad thing in many ways. If ever a club could do with a relegation its Everton. Give the club a chance to reset. As it stands, its become the natural home for any mercenary player who isn't good enough to play for a top 6 side but wants top 6 wages and the club desperately needs to shed wages and get rid of a huge chunk of the squad. Relegation would give you the contractual wiggle room to clear house of previous mistakes. Your, at best, borderline when it comes to FFP. Moshiri can't chuck anymore cash in and your being bled dry by average players on massive contracts. Look at the Deloitte money league that came out a couple of weeks ago - pay attention to the wages/turnover ration at Everton compared to other comparable clubs. Only club on the list that is worse than you for wages is PSG..........

You were awful under Bielsa last year and would have gone down if you hadn't appointed Yank Lampard.

We were bad under Bielsa last year. We were worse under Yank Lampard, and are currently still worse under Yank Lampard. Bielsa was sacked when we had 6 points between us and the relegation zone, we ended up staying up by winning away on the last day and relying on Burnley losing at home to Newcastle. Not exactly steadying the ship in my view.............

No, he wasn't.

Table after Gameweek 27 last season. Bielsa's last game you got tonked 0-4 by the Spurs. 2 Points off relegation zone having played a game more than Burnley and two more than us.

The problem with him is the timing, he wouldn't

have the time to install his style of play on this squad, the board left it to late sacking Lampard, should have done it pre world cup.

I honestly couldn't see him lasting long working with are board.
End of season tops.
He has to much integrity for them.
Exactly.

He was honest enough to say this was too big a job for him to use his methods on over 18 games.

IMO, stay up or go down, I'd revisit Bielsa in the summer.
