Nah that's ridiculous. I understand that he'll need some time to turn the club around and get us playing football again but if he isn't consistently improving the team year on year then we can't wait three years to sack him. The most important thing now is that Brands has clearly stated that we want to play fast attacking football based around young players. That's a big step forward and what we should have done after sacking Martinez. So we've now got a clear sense of direction which we've been missing. If Silva sorts out his defensive problems and keeps improving us then fine but if not then we get someone else in who can, whilst still moving in the direction of fast attacking football based around young players.

For me, if we rip the squad apart - as needs doing - then the first season has to be viewed as a gimme in terms of league positioning...not fighting off relegation like. Second season he should have us healthy top half and competitive in the cups and playing an attractive brand of footy. Third season we should be looking to secure European football again.

For me that's realistic. If we try and set goals like Europe qualification in the next two seasons then we run the risk of heaping too much pressure and weight onto a manager trying to build a squad and a way of playing football here. We cant afford a hire and fire mentality here. It'll eventually end up with us in the Championship.

The below is meant as a criticism; instead, it's a worry as I feel that sometimes we as a club over excite ourselves like with Koeman and Martinez.

However, to be already making bold comments that we want to be the Atléti of England gives me a feeling that we're opening ourselves up again.

Especially when Silva currently has a PL win record of 13 in 42 (30.95%) compared with 21 defeats in 42 (50%). Why not slow but steady?

I don't have an issue with optimism yet I'd have rather kept our cards close to our chest (quiet and subtle) than outlandish claims.

Listening what Brands said in regard to Silva strikes me as him saying Marco will do what I tell him. That is not a bad thing for me. We need a team in place but we cannot allow confusion in how things are being done. Brands sets the strategy and Marco comes up with the policies to implement that strategy.
Hopefully we are on our way this time, surely we must have used up our quota of false dawns.

Cant believe how much we agree on, with this new team in place.

will judge Brands and Silva come the start of the season, and not a minute before.

"have a think about it, he's already failed twice in the premier league"
"are you advocating Silva who has a relegation and a sacking on his books ??"
"heres a couple of Marco Silva FACTS He has failed at 2 premier league clubs already. one ending in a relegation and the other when he gave up..."
"anybody thinking Brands would want Silva anywhere near his club are deluded."
"just don't get the love in for Silva. hes truly shocking."

Recognise these quotes Frank?
They are all your's from the now closed 'Marco Silva' thread. Still, it's nice to know your not judging him yet eh?

The football played is paramount for me atm. We have to reinvent ourselves and Silva can do that. The results will follow.

The boo boys - even now preparing to clear their throats for the season ahead - need to know they cant get away with pressuring the club into doing their bidding. It'll be important for Brands to be out in front of this and laying down the law.

I took that reference (AM) as an ambition, an aim, not something that needs to be done and dusted by October.

I said it when Sam was here. He was given a job spec. Love him, hate him, argues the toss that anyone could have done it. But he did what he was paid to do.

If the job spec to Brands and Silva is an AM model, then sound. Both on 3 year deals. Let them get on with it.

Why are people saying this? What he did at Hull would have been a miracle if they had stayed up, and he nearly pulled it off. Watford was flying until we got in the picture
Sure, you may have a point for the first one, but as for Watford, nobody ever ran a politcal campaign, lost badly and counted it a success because "Well we started out well until we got distracted".

A short illuminating timeline for entertainment, irony and smiling purposes. :)

Sam Allardyce - 1st December 2017 - https://www.telegraph.co.uk/footbal...rdyce-cant-compare-marco-silva-got-relegated/

"When asked whether he was concerned Moshiri’s admiration for the Watford coach would prompt renewed interest this summer, Allardyce said: “Lets put it this way. If you look at my track record why wouldn’t I be here irrespective of Marco Silva?"
