Exactly mate.
I get the mistakes he is making, totally agree 100% and he will no doubt get printed at some point. But he's calling them out about effort/concentration/application these things have to come from the player themselves, the manager can't kick the ball for them
The manager cannot kick a ball for them, but he absolutely has to motivate them. If players were all self motivated you wouldn't need a Manager!
By saying that players are obliged to be motivated shows me that this fraud has no business being manager of our great club. He is shirking a massive part of his job and really has no idea about the art of management and leadership.
We are talking about human beings, not robots. Granted they earn obscene money and we would all love them to have Everton tattoos and kiss the badge all of the time, but the reality of life and the modern footballer is that they are in it for the money, the glory and ultimately themselves but they are also emotional souls (bless them).
And here's the crux of all of this. Footballers (despite earning 6 figures a month) still get happy, sad, tired, stressed (hard to believe I know) nervous, grumpy, angry, upset (and any other of the dwarves I have missed out). And guess what? Whilst they are able to feel emotions they are able to become demotivated (for whatever reason may be) and so need someone to help them and motivate them.
That is called a Manager (or more appropriately a leader) in my book. Us fans can help a little bit on a Saturday, but this is one of the key responsibilities of the modern manager.
Players are not obliged to be Motivated Marco (see Man Utd) and if you can't do this, then pack your bags and take the next Easy Jet to Lisbon.
You utter, utter fraud...
