But that's not what you said. You said he was met with enthusiasm and positivity.

He wasn't. He had and has huge question marks that, I would say, the majority were asking questions about.

The team WAS playing well enough (but not excellent, it was my stance they were underachieving THEN) but they have since regressed significantly in the last TWO MONTHS. That's not a slump.

I did say he was a popular choice maybe that was debatable...

Our current squad is no better than 7th place, we are 4/5 players short to challenge any higher...

We are currently under achieving no doubt about that...

Recent results have been poor & we must improve, however to sack our manager may not be the answer...

I know the players have a massive part to play in this, but when you are being sent out on a pitch by a tactically inept coach it's impossible not to let it effect your performance. This team is being set up for failure.

Marco Silva was a popular choice so why are people calling for him to be sacked...

He needs time..

We must be patient & give him a fair crack...

New,fresh, younger & better players are required, tough decisions & conversations need to be tackled & players moved on sold etc,etc...

A big job that requires time, this will decide Marco's fate hopefully not kneejerk reactions...

No mate, on all points

The capitulation at Watford put a hell’a lot peeps of this fella. Now he’s turned into a better looking mike walker

Think we have similar views on Everton and football mate. But I do despair with some peoples thoughts on here!

Lets see if we have similar views on Everton.

Everton are :

1. A nothing club, a stain on football with a toxic fanbase
2. The greatest team in the world, being kept from its rightful place in the league by Oil rich clubs and a corrupt FA
3. A fallen Giant, miles away from where it needs to be, but could get there if the fans showed slightly more patience

Pick wisely.

Everton's players must "listen to the truth" as Marco Silva sifts through the wreckage of another defeat.

The Blues boss accepts he is under pressure after a run of eight defeats in the last 14 games in all competitions and knows he needs to get to the bottom of their problems.

Silva saw his side lose 3-1 at home to Wolves on Saturday and says the players' reaction to the third goal was not "normal".

The 41-year-old has little time to re-organise Everton with title-chasing Manchester City the visitors to Goodison on Wednesday night in a rearranged fixture but has suggested his message will be straight and to the point at Finch Farm in the next few days.

“For us to improve and do the things better they have to understand," Silva said.

“If I have to blame them, I will, but if I have to go in a different way I will do that also.

“They have to listen to the truth because I didn't like our performance in some moments and more when we made mistakes."

Asked if getting angry with the players works, he said: “They have seen me many, many times this season angry with them.

“I am calm with you but when I am with them it is not always the same.

“Even after the third goal we have to react in a different way, it wasn't the normal reaction in that moment.”

Silva was then quizzed about his players' motivation and if he was struggling to get the right response from the squad.

He said: “But for me, motivation is an obligation. When you are a professional and working at a club like Everton, it is an obligation to be motivated and to be focused.

“When you are talking to me about motivation, focus it is something that is an obligation, it cannot come on Saturday and not the next Saturday.

But I agree with you, we are not being consistent this season and we are paying a lot for that.”

The Portuguese coach accepts that he is under pressure after a dreadful run of results but insists his focus is not on his job safety but on sorting out the problems in front of him.

“I know what you are asking me," he said.

“The most important thing for me is what we can do as a club and what we can do as a team, it's not about talking about individual things.

“It is not important for me to talk about this situation.

“My job is to work with them and to show them, clearly, what they need to do on the pitch.

“And to understand why, even when we prepare and plan, why we are always making the same type of mistakes."

“When everything goes well they talk good things about the manager but when some things go wrong it is normal they also speak about the manager," he continued.

"It is normal, it is a normal pressure when you have this kind of job.”

There is no let-up for Everton and Silva with Man City the visitors on Wednesday.

“At the moment we don't find easy games," the Everton manager says.

"This game wasn't easy for sure but the moment is to not look at the opponent but look at ourselves.

“We have quality but for many reasons players are not handling theses situations in a normal way and it is my job to understand why."

And hes blaming the players, stick a fork in this fella.

Fellas job is on the line, he's got every right to start calling these players out imo about their below par performances

He'll get sacked and rightly so if this continues and he needs to stand up and take this crap on the chin and he needs it start making these players accountable

Honestly, he'd get more respect lobbing 5 rezzies in and saying give me 90 minutes of effort than trusting certain players he's obsessed with game after game

We are not playing well we are in a rut at the moment. Moyes had worse ruts, as did Martinez, Koeman and Allardyce. Lets see if he gets us out of the rut before demanding another new manager who will in all probability have a rut at sometime..........so we can get another manager in until he has.......forget it.

I can't honestly think of one player in the squad who was here last year who has improved under him whereas the RS, City and even Chelsea have quite a few who've gotten better as a result of the manager coaching them.

Other than Richarlison I don't think Silva has one real supporter in the squad who'd be devastated should he go.

The obvious answer is 1

But, again, we are regressing week by week.

Continuity for continuity sake is a waste of time.

He is right in what he says about it being an obligation for them to be motivated playing for Everton! And i hope he does get wild with them behind the scenes cos they deserve it!
