Why are people comparing him with Klopp? Klopp’s won stuff and it took them 15 games to concede 6 goals. Took us a game, there is no comparison

The same fans who probably thought Martinez was a football genius and begged for him to be kept on and given another 5 seasons.

Always someone elses fault
Always another transfer window
Always a season in transition
Always the players/referee's/tea ladys fault

Same old script sadly some people cant tell when they've been sold a pup. If its short and yaps it aint a rottweiller you just bought chief.

I think this result was bit of an anomaly. We generally have been competitive against the top sides, and 11th place is not reflective of the progress we have made this season. It's a big rebuilding job.We are a bit off competing for the champions league places, but if we finish around 7th, with some good football to watch, then that will be progress.

Lo
It is. Our owner gambling with the club's future well being putting in hundreds of millions of "loans" and entrusting it to be spent on player after player who are then undercoached by garbage midtable managers.

The day the fans wake up the better. You've been had I'm afraid.

Love a good “I’m smarter than all of you post”. Nice one mate, good pressie for Christmas. Will you still be here in the New Year to share more wisdom?

Summer transfer window is the key one.

The one we will arrive at having had an ok season, finishing top 10, with a very different first 11 than we finished the previous season and playing some actual real life attacking positive football. The crap run up to Xmas will be mentioned but won't be the be all and end all.

It's important for him to turn it around to show he can get us out of a slump. Ideally it will be with at least one away win in the next two games, but patience might well be needed beyond that. All teams go through slumps and it can be a positive long term.

There can't be any repeat however of today's debacle at home. I don't care how poor we are, or who we are playing, but getting hit for 6 at Goodison is simply not good enough amd there should be an inquest.

Certainly not disagreeing with your overall point but let’s be honest here, that is a lot of money spent. It’s not city levels or whatever but I said in the summer you can’t spend what we did, drop places in the league and call it progress. We outspent a lot of teams who finished below us and there’s no real excuse to let them overtake us in my opinion. I’m not expecting overnight miracles but I agree that accepting 10th as a decent season is lowering the bar a little too much for my liking.
this in spades ^^

we have to maintain a top 6 finish should be aheivable this season. we have spent 6/7 money. these transition shouts are pathetic.

Klopps first season (30 games in charge) Liverpool finished in their joint lowest league position since they got relegated mate.

Yes we spent a fair amount in the summer, not exactly a huge amount tbh though in reality, 18m, 40m, 25m on 3 players these days is not outlandish spending by a long stretch.

Plus this spending was by and large trying to plug the huge holes we had all over the squad due to 2 years of utterly woeful players being bought.

This season always should have been about trying to turn over the playing staff with an eye on the future, consolidating as a top half side and remaining behind a manager who could prove long term to be someone who can push the club forwards.

Expecting or demanding to 6 or an instant transformation of the side is ignoring the monumental task of changing the entire ethos of a club that's in real terms done absolutely nothing except exist in the division the past twenty five seasons if people want the club to do a Leeds, villa etc then call for another manager change, but to do so imo shows either stupidity, trying to be a wum, or being a koppite - which a fair few of the obvious ones of all three are in evident lately and especially today.

Klopp also got them to two finals the League Cup and the Europa that season though. They turned over United and Dortmund in the Europa and took City to penalties in the League Cup. We are a million miles from that.

I agree about having patience though. If we get rid of Silva now then it is likely to be another caretaker manager followed by another manager under the cosh to produce instant results. We have got some real quality players now and need to add to it in January. Paying off another manager is just going to continue the cycle.

Im not smarter than anyone, I just wish fans would not be hypocrites and call things as they see it.

If the current season was under Koeman he would have been sacked by now

If the current season was under Alladyce fans would be screaming for his head

Because its Silva and he's handsome, young and plays loco attacking football he deserves 2 seasons of transition, 500 million to spend on 11 new players etc. Before we dare change manager?

It just smacks of hypocrisy.

Yawn

More OTT nonsense.

You could maybe find one or two posters who thought Martinez should have been kept on. I was very much behind him but knew he had to go.

If you keep changing managers and then having to change the players you ARE going to have a lot of transitional seasons. Occasionally you get a positive one where a lot of things click, like Martinez first season. Or you get a nightmare one and you have to get rid. This one is a bog standard one. Some positive signs. Some crap.

The DOF in place should at least mean the changes needed to the playing staff will normalise once we do the second overhaul in the summer.
