Really surprised people want him out and some are even writing up their shortlists for the next manager lol.

There’s no doubt that we’ve come a long way in how we play and equally we should be further up the table than where we are.

Managers need time and yesterday was a freak game. Look at our performances against the top sides this season, apart from yesterday I think everyone would agree we’ve performed well in those games.

They had 3 rebound goals and a Pickford clanger to go 4-1 up. It was one of those days.

Spurs are a brilliant side and it showed that we still need substantial strengthening to compete - especially up top and in CM.

It wasn't a freak game though according to Silva's record in the premier League. In fact it was one of his standard results.

All started to tits up when the Keane Zouma partnersip was interrupted for Chelsea, then the silly 3 at the back try, now the defence are struggling for form and they were solid a month or so ago.

Pochettino 1st season

0-3 Liverpool
2-2 Sunderland
0-1 West Brom
1-4 City
1-2 Stoke
1-2 Hull
1-2 Palace
0-3 Man U
0-1 Villa
0-3 Stoke

Klopp 1st half season

2-2 West Brom
0-3 Watford
0-2 West Ham
0-2 Leicester
2-2 Sunderland
2-3 Southampton
1-3 Swansea
1-1 West Brom

Yesterday was abysmal and the last 2 draws have been very poor (not just results but performances) however the results above show that although Spurs and Liverpool are doing really well now, people tend to forget the last few seasons and how they got there.

As long as they are learning from these performances/results and buying into Silvas approach and methods then he needs to be given time.

Managers need time, we’re hearing this constantly since 3 years or so. What are the recent examples of managers struggling in their first year and then achieving some kind of success? I can only think of Daniel Farke and Norwich but that’s not in the top flight.

I think the most common scenarios are the ones we have had with Martinez and Koeman - decent impact in the first season then it went downhill. If you’re half decent manager it shows right from the spot. And I’m sorry but being unable to get wins from some atrocious opponents at home doesnt scream of being a good one for me.

You mean a hammering against the best PL side of all time as manager of Watford, and a hammering by a very good Spurs side as manager of a doomed club who had Niasse as their best player by far?

We've played well against the top teams away.
Maybe he thought at home we could go toe to toe with Spurs at home but we just weren't good enough.
Lesson learned hopefully. Still a lot of work to be done.

The post directly above yours maybe is a good example.

Great post.
No one is happy after the last month. But a manager needs time

He does need to be given time, this is a slump for sure, but its his first of any significance as it would be after only half a seasons worth of games.

There is no denying we have significant problems and yesterdays result was abysmal and he needs to take a long hard look at the game and at himself.

There is no free pass really, at least not within unreasonable limits - if we were ever in danger Moshiri has shown that he would take action.

It's as much to do with hoping he succeeds and avoiding what would be an extremely concerning scenario as much as having confidence that he is the right man for the job.

If for whatever reason Silva can't fulfill a full contract here let alone a full season - then both he and us are up the creek.

The only silver bullet is Man City type investment and that isn't on the horizon. We have chopped and changed managers over several seasons with no discernable improvement to date by and large. Our problems run deeper than that.
