We just look all over the place at the minute. Not that we are getting one, but I don’t even think a decent striker would solve much at the moment.

We definitely are struggling and he needs to find a system that works, or two systems that work (i.e. stick with 3 at the back away from home and then find a way of playing at home against packed defences).

That being said, Ij, the team that Leicester put out today was actually the same midfield that played against Chelsea and City and won. Maddison was used as a winger in both of those games, and that task was given to Albrighton/Ghezzal today.

Brighton left their top goalscorer on the bench for most of the game the other day.
They rested Glenn Murray against us.

I agree that recently we haven't had a set way of playing. He needs to refind that.

We definitely did have a set way of playing up until and including the derby though, and even against Watford (what cost us there was sloppiness in a five-minute spell).

Combine that with big ricks regularly from the keeper and hopeless defensive organisation = plenty more pain.

I agree. No point having a decent striker when we cant build up the play and bring them into the game! Lukaku would never have scored all those goals for us playing in this team! Its woeful

He continues to play Walcott who is beyond useless
He continues to play DCL, who is (admittedly) better than Walcott, but not by much
He continues to play Pickford. He may not have much option in this, but I would have hoped that he would have addressed some of his many faults - parrying shots back out into the middle of the 18 yard box instead of out wide (away from the goal), kicking the ball into touch for an opposition throwing with monotonous regularity, showboating (making standard saves appear more spectacular than they need be), shouting at everyone else for his mistakes
He continues to play Walcott who is beyond useless
These decisions (especially numbers 1 & 4) cast serious doubts on his ability - methinks we should get rid!

We are hopeless in possession, and have been for a number of weeks now. We are so slow and ponderous on the ball and we are dreadful at playing out from the back at speed. Andre Gomes looked like the answer to these problems when he first came into the team but he has looked really off the pace in the last couple of weeks, today especially.

I agree with the notion that signing a striker might not solve our dreadful finishing problem because our strikers are so anonymous it's not usually them that are missing our big chances. Walcott and Bernard have to take some responsibility because their goal returns haven't been good enough and even though they are responsible for most of our goals, Richarlison and Sigurdsson also miss too many big chances.

Silva needs to sort this, we need to be better at keeping the ball (the amount of times we gave it away today was infuriating), our players have to do more off the ball in terms of movement which will help drag opposition players out of their shell, and we simply have to start converting a much higher proportion of our chances. It's really holding us back.

You might be right mate, but I’d hope that at least having a decent striker might give opponents something to think/worry about.
At the moment I get the feeling that no one fears playing us....home or away.

Its really not that hard to understand that there are too many players who need to be replaced.

Im very worried. He was unable to turn Watford round last season when things went wrong. We are on a terrible run of form!! If he doesnt manage to bring the players round and get us out of this slump, we are back to square one!!

Somebody today compared our style of play to that when Martinez was here saying it was the same. I dont agree! Under Martinez, i always knew what our style of play was. We were much more progressive in our attacking play. We still conceded a lot and took some hammerings which is one thing thats similar i suppose! Under Silva, mainly the last few games (except Burnley), we play a couple of passes square and then seem to be out of ideas..... then just sling it in the box and see what happens!

But it's also right to say we have been very close to doing 'much' better.

Missing glaring chances at big moments in huge games, Tim. And while I accept that the responsibility is ultimately on the manager the players are the ones who miss those chances/make those mistakes.

We could realistically be 8 points better off, so 6th or 7th level with United. We aren't and we're to blame.

But you say 'we should be doing much better' like we're 17th. We're 10th, four points off seventh. I want us to be better, and like I've said above we have had the chances to do so and that's where the frustration comes from, but how much 'better' did you expect at this stage in the season? I'm not being pedantic or even disagreeing with your point, it's just easy to say 'we should be doing much better', but what is that better?

A start would be beating the likes of Watford, Newcastle and Leicester at home. I agree. And that would have us seven points better off. Is that 'much' better than where we are now?

I don’t think it’s all as doom and gloom as is being painted:yes, we play togger at a very similar level as Huddersfield, and Cardiff, but them two, along with Fulham, have the rank stench of relegation about them We only need 13 points out of a possible 51. Yes, it sounds impossible but I trust our lion hearts in Blue to scrap for those 13 draws...and the safety of 40 points. What a season we’ll have had if we can do that!!! Our lion hearts should get a bonus !!

And Mr Kenwright is a chairman we can all be proud of (although I wish he’d desist from tearing up so often... bit of a big Jessie imo.

I agreed with everything Silva said in his post match summary except one thing. He said that in spite of all the crowd were behind us supporting us. Categorically wrong. We were not supporting the team except for maybe 5 minutes in the whole game. The silence of the home crowd throughout the game was testimony to an awful often gutless display. The crowd have always tolerated crap players but never a lack of effort or apparent indifference as shown by Richarlison. Knock him one or twice and he is finished; everyone in the league knows it. If Silva can't change his attitude, (I know he is only 21), then get shut of him this April or the one after.

Going to risk the hate and the abuse again and being called a Liverpool fan.

I came here when you got Silva and tried, in peace, to tell fellow football fans what Silva was like and got a dogs abuse, told I knew nothing and was bitter.

I admit i dislike Silva for the treachery and for his style of play. I appreciate few of you see it like this.

Some points in terms of his style

He exhausts players in practice . I suspect you are seeing this. Are they all looking a bit knackered at the moment?

If you aren’t winning well at half time you have a good chance of losing.

He has no plan B. And makes odd substitutions.

You have a good bunch of players he should be doing better if he weren’t a fraud.
