We have too many forward players that can be equally good or bad. Walcott, Richarlison, DCL, Tosun, Bernard, Lookman (in other words the lot). They can all have a good game every now and then. Richarlison is the most consistent yet is inconsistent. We need players that if they are below form can still add something to the team rather than nothing. Still believe we are only and few signings and tweaks away from being a very good team
Tosun and DCL can only be bad.

This is what needs to stop.

There is no Sky Six. There are no media darlings. Certainly not in the way it’s intimated by many on here. They get the most coverage because they play the best togger. They have the best players. They get the most live games because nobody wants to see Burnley vs Huddersfield outside of Burnley and Huddersfield fans. The crying that they get preferential treatment, pointing to anecdotal incidents, means absolutely nothing and gets us absolutely nowhere.

It used to be a big four. Now it’s a big six. The argument that they get preferential treatment and have bought their places would hold more water if:

A) Spurs weren’t in there
B) We hadn’t now spent comparative amounts.

We CAN make it a big seven. I firmly believe we can. But there needs to be a mindset shift amongst the fans as well as in the boardroom. That will absolutely transfer onto the players. Right now, we live that “Everton, that” mentality and it does hold us back. The last time we had any sort of identity as a team was under Moyes, when no team enjoyed playing us and every top team hated coming to Goodison.

That’s what we need to be building towards again. I didn’t think Silva was the answer at the time and I don’t think he is now, but it only really matters what Mosh, Brands and BK think. Personally, I would be shocked if they aren’t already putting feelers out to identify potential alternatives / more suitable candidates with a view to giving them the remainder of this season to assess the team prior to a clearout in the summer.

Too good to go down, not good enough to achieve meaningful progress. That’s a free hit for anyone coming in.

As regards to a big seven we’d need to be considered title contenders at the start of the season and we are light years away from that. We can’t even get close to the top six never mind pushing for a title. All the big six are considered title contenders at the start of the season. Some more so than others but all six have the capability of winning it.

Before we could ever be considered to make a big seven we would first need to consistently break into the top six or finish 7th close to the six and way ahead of the remaining 13 teams

Absolutely agree! But there’s no reason that we can’t do that. My point was that our mentality as a club and as a fanbase needs to shift before that can happen, otherwise the best we can aspire to is Spurs: “nearly men” but just a bit better.

It’s been mentioned in other threads quite a bit but there are too many blues more arsed about that lot than their own club.

Everton are 100% a confidence team, and it is shot at the moment

someone needs to kick a boot at their head

unfortunately the one man who shows a bit of passion on the field probably shouldnt be on it

look at JJK, has barely been involved in the demoralising last month, came in and took his chance well, looked up for it. Give him another few games of this rubbish and he will sink with the rest of them.

Certainly starting to feel like the beginning of the end.

Even if we don’t agree or want to believe it.

Totally agree.

Having a DoF hasn't worked well for us at all.
But you guarantee high managerial turnover. I think Man U under Ferguson worked better than any of the DOF clubs over here.

Also the coach has less authority - players can run off to moan to the DOF like at Madrid, etc to get rid of him
Having a D of F does not mean higher managerial turnover.
