I think a little perspective is needed here. A month ago we were 6th, playing some of the best football we’ve seen for a fair few seasons, going into a Merseyside Derby full of confidence and most of us were complaining that Sky were deliberately missing us off of their big 6 table because they couldn’t handle how amazing we were. Fast forward a month and we’re useless, our manager is a fraud and some (although only a small group I’m sure) are suggesting Allardyce would have done better.
The truth is we are somewhere in the middle! We’ve got a good team and when they’re all fit and well rested they are a match for anyone but 4 games in 8 days (we had the least rest between games) a few niggling injuries and a squad lacking any real depth has taken its toll.
I’m not making excuses for the results, we shouldn’t be losing games to Brighton and Leicester but this season was always going to be one to repair the damage of previous managers and rebuild. We can’t keep sacking managers the moment we have a poor run. The team needs time and it needs consistency.

I still rate him, there are a handful of games where I have watched us under him and thought we are not in this, and this football doesn't work. Yesterday and Spurs the obvious ones, but yesterday was just weird, neither side looked up to even Sunday league standards. But under Allardyce I never felt like there was a next level. Under Silva it has felt all season like we are heading towards the next level (whatever that may be).
I'm not letting a bad couple of games and a short run of bad results change my mind just yet.

If anyone ever needs to understand why we as a club haven't won a thing in near 25 years they just need to read this thread.

SAM ALLARDYCE is being afforded sympathy..... the fat gravy guzzling no mark who we paid £9m to for serving garbage football is being allowed to spew his bile on radio and fans are saying he has a point.

Our fans are turning into the definition of losers.... "oh he's quite good.... he never got relegated"....have a word FFS.

If Silva isn't the man then we move on and hire another.... why look back to an awful manager? Cos Its a losers mentality.

The RS sacked King Kenny despite winning a trophy and finishing 7th..... good for them!!! They knew what they wanted and what they didn't want. Some of our lot would be saying "get Hodgson back"

Our fans are the reason the media take pot shots at us.... it's ok for the mancs to sack mourinho despite winning 3 or 4 trophies but Everton must endure a fraudulent disprectful dinosaur and accept that he is our level??? Ffs

Haven’t scrolled through the comments myself recently but I sense from this that people are actually entertaining the idea that BFS be used as a yardstick to measure our current position?! If the point being made is Marco isn’t good enough then fine, I can see why some will hold this view based on our current league position and lack of fire power. There are definitely areas we can improve in and we can debate if Marco is up to doing that. Or rather, we can start a debate midway through the man’s first season and continue that debate 12-18 months into his tenure. Far too early to trial, condemn and throw out the current management project. For me, there are positive signs regarding the boss. He’s identified a need to bring in ball playing centre halves, dynamic attacking full backs and a creative midfield. The personnel he brings in might not improve those areas immediately but he can coach them and eventually upgrade them if necessary. Of course he sees the lack of fire power as a problem area too, and will be seeking to address this in the next couple of windows. If he doesn’t do that then that could be seen as evidence he’s not up to the task. But on current evidence he knows where our weaknesses are as a team and is seemingly active in trying to remedy those areas.

A stable business growth model is based on continuous improvements not sequential and frequent root-and-branch changes (observe the contrasting recent fortunes of ManU and LFC to see the difference between evolution and repeated revolutions). The DoF appointment reassured me that the Board understand this, and this is another sign that we’re gradually moving in the right direction. If it doesn’t work out with Marco we get in an upgrade. We continuously improve. We don’t bring in a complete change in direction. We get someone in who can better do what we wanted Marco to do. We move forward. We don’t move backward.

BFS is a Newcastle and West Ham reject. Any sentiment that we should have stuck with him just because our project isn’t moving forward fast enough midway through its first year is “small club thinking” of an order so extensively heinous that even the Newcastle and West Ham fans couldn’t tolerate it.

I hope Mosh aint getting any ideas, i can't cope with another change.

I think BFS genuinely wanted the gig with Everton. He probably saw it as his last chance to build a reputation as a big club manager. The sacking has really crushed the man and his massive but fragile ego. Like a resentful jilted lover he’s now stalking us and taking every opportunity to take a dig. Who cares? As long as the club stay classy and not stoop to his level he’ll gradually fade away.

Sky today showed Silva‘s record at Watford was identical to this season, Ok fot 8 games then 1 win in the next 11, with us it‘s 1 win in 8. Didn‘t understand why Moshi moved heaven and earth to get him, unless things change he‘sa dead man walking. Problem is........who would want to replace him? mourinho is just another BFS with a better publicity machine.
