He's probably dreaming of that 15m payoff already. Might as well do his worst, safe in the knowledge that him and the next three generations of the Silva family need never work again.

I think the key to Silva’s long term survival here is Brands.

Did Brands have any say in Marco’s appointment?

I know Silva was in situ befire Brands came on board but I assume Moshiri had been in talks with the latter for a while so happen he was indeed happy enough to have him as manager.

But if Marco is not of Brands choosing then patience will be in short supply if this current malaise continues into the second half of the season.

I'm guessing the conversation went something along the lines of:

Moshiri "I want to get Silva in from Watford, I like the way they play and he is a coach not a manager so will work under a DOF"

Brands "I don't know him, but if he's your man and he'll let me get on with buying the players and dictating the playing style that's fine".

Yes, will be interesting if Brands is watching the current run, then going to Mosh and saying to him 'I don't think this is our guy imo' considering the effort Mosh went to in bringing Silva here.

I wonder how the conversation is going now lol

.... The expression I was searching for was 'mentally dishevelled'. We need to monitor his situation carefully. Most of us have followed Everton for years and we are thus inured to shocking failure and disappointment. But Marco is new to Everton and so he's vulnerable to the ravages Everton inviolably imposes on anybody associated with it.
Make no mistake, Marco is in a dark, dark place...

I agree but then we went to helluva effort to prise Koeman from Southampton and Moshiri had no hesitation in getting rid.
You would think that compo would be a serious consideration as well as reputational damage to the Everton brand and Moshiri but I'm not sure about anything at Everton anymore.

....it’s a pressure occupation and he needs to be careful if he can’t cope. The players will be fully aware if he’s struggling and that can manifest itself on team performance.

Problem is when our managers hit a bad spell they usually don’t come out of it... Moyes excluded.

Definitely in the past. I guess it's how long they can wait before they can do something with this one. It's not that desperate......yet. And I hope it never comes to that point.

I really really don't want us to have to sack another manager. It's getting bad. And will make it harder to attract a new one. 'Why would I go there? I'll get the sack if things go pear shaped for a bit'. Sort of thing.

I hope he sorts it out to be honest. Much easier that way.

Unless it goes really bad, then I can't see any change happening. This is the guy they wanted and we can't just keep sacking managers after every bad spell. They need to continue to work to rebuild the squad, and identify the areas for improvement.

No one exactly knows what happen. Unless you are a member of the board. It could be anything.
You can never be sure, but there are some big clues. We initially offered him a 6 month contract but he had us backed into a corner so we had to offer him 18 months. That’s the biggest clue. It seems pretty illogical to think he was sacked for only finishing 8th when he was brought in as a relegation fire fighter
