The first time I came across tumbleweed was back in the early 70's whilst watching an episode of The High Chaparal.
I believe it's native to Russia (the plant...not the TV programme)

I think the key to Silva’s long term survival here is Brands.

Did Brands have any say in Marco’s appointment?

I know Silva was in situ befire Brands came on board but I assume Moshiri had been in talks with the latter for a while so happen he was indeed happy enough to have him as manager.

But if Marco is not of Brands choosing then patience will be in short supply if this current malaise continues into the second half of the season.
No, we went after Silva way before Brands was on the scene, in fact they both came in the same month but cant see Brands having any say on Silva at all, he was Moshiri's dream. However, should we find oureslves in a situation with no manager im sure it would be left to Brands to find one.
I would like to think he has already thought about this, just like if for any reason we no longer have Pickford, Gomes or anyone else in the squad, he might have an idea on a replacement in his files.

Wasn’t tiredness used as an excuse for Richarlisons form dropping off a cliff last season . He’d played 18 months football with no break or something mad like that. He was in the press earlier this season after his great 1st few games saying how good he feels after his 1st holiday for ages. Now people are using it again. Perhaps he’s one of them players that just can’t handle the rigours, physicality and demands of our League.

He's well ok with the physicality, on that score he's a beast, he gets kicked to buggery, yeah he spends too much time on the floor but he is blatantly targeted.

Mosh-man's dream is rapidly turning into a nightmare...

...Everton that

Long term acceptance is normally ok when you can see a way of playing on the pitch. But has Joyce alludes to, that has disappeared and it’s all fallen off a cliff.

That’s the worry. You can lose games but see how the manager wants to play, fans will normally accept it.

He hasn’t been in a job long enough in England to see what happens when this sets in and how he can counter it. Unless something drastic happens we will be the testing lab.

He’ll be under more pressure than he’s ever felt before. Everton is not a nice place when the crowd get itchy feet, the press is also circling. The interview after the Leicester game was worrying, it was ramblings and brought back horrible memories of Mike Walkers and is inability to deal with pressure.

This will make him or break. He needs to get that way of playing back implemented as soon as possible otherwise his career will be damaged

.... The expression I was searching for was 'mentally dishevelled'. We need to monitor his situation carefully. Most of us have followed Everton for years and we are thus inured to shocking failure and disappointment. But Marco is new to Everton and so he's vulnerable to the ravages Everton inviolably imposes on anybody associated with it.
Make no mistake, Marco is in a dark, dark place...

He does not strike me as the most light hearted personality at the best of times, more forlorn maybe a touch demure about him!

Do you know the reason for the bolded part? Why someone like Silva -his CV is not that impressive- was his dream manager? Really weird if it was Moshiri's persistent push. Brands could have gone for someone else -if he was asked- I would think.

This is what i never understood, he won 8 games at Hull and 8 at Watford and was somehow seen as being the right man to push for a top 6 spot? Madness, he might turn out to be the right man, but there was nothing in his CV to convince Moshiri of this IMO, not to the extent of not looking at anyone else

What’s so baffling is that he couldn’t use the Burnley thrashing as motivation.

What team wins 5-1 away from home and then follows it up with two 1-0 defeats against bang average sides?

I bet loads of teams to be honest.

Also look at the goals from that game. Lots were from set piece situations and a worldly rather than a chance created from open play.

He's increasingly looking shell-shocked.

He's sussed out that he's joined a club going nowhere fast.

Well his job is to get us going somewhere fast and after bringing in 5-6 decent players this summer, I have no pity for that. Needs to improve and I’m willing to give him time but our play seems to have regressed from the start of the season

Yeah - I would imagine our infallible guru of a football director would have been having “informal” talks on who to appoint as Coach well before his official arrival.
