What’s so baffling is that he couldn’t use the Burnley thrashing as motivation.

What team wins 5-1 away from home and then follows it up with two 1-0 defeats against bang average sides?

Leicester are not bang average. They are better than us and will finish above us. Brighton at the Amex aren’t exactly an easy trip either. Beat United, Wolves and West Ham there, drew with Arsenal and only narrowly lost to Spurs and Chelsea.

Don’t get this sense of entitlement. We’ve done nothing as a team in the last 12-18 months to warrant it.

For every Mourinho, there is also an AVB. Such is the way of the universe. Right now Marco is closer to charting his course for the Dakar rally than bringing some silverware back to Goodison.
For every Mourinho there are scores, at least, of AVBs. Given the vast majority of Premier League coaches are now foreign, then the vast majority are also failures. We just do not have any trust in our own football people any more.

He's increasingly looking shell-shocked.

He's sussed out that he's joined a club going nowhere fast.
I would too: He keeps setting us up well and we miss sitters after sitters, or for some unfathomable reason, have a game like yesterday where we can't pass to our other foot without giving it away.

Don’t think he’s backed a donkey. I think he is the donkey. He has assembled a lot of the current first team and is failing to motivate or at least get the best out of the team. Maybe he’s not the thoroughbred we thought we were getting.

He needs to look at his team selections, tactics and style of play if he has any idea that is because right now he is as clueless as the players. Should get a formartion sorted out, team picked and stick to it stop buggaring about from game to game.

It may just be he can't prepare the team properly with such a short gap inbetween the games. Or the lazy players can't deal with it. So it may start to improve again.

However for a team that has an ambition to play in Europe that isn't great.

From @summerisle article:

Hull claimed 17 points from their first 11 matches under Silva as he sought to implement his ideas, raising hopes of avoiding relegation. But instead of momentum being maintained, they collected four points from the remaining seven games and slipped through the trapdoor. He headed for the exit with them.

At Watford, it was 21 points from 13 games and then five from the next 11, something his employers back then blamed on Everton’s unwanted advances. Now, at Goodison Park, Silva has taken 18 points from his first 11 matches as manager and nine from the next ten.

It is a pattern which promotes the notion that Silva’s methods and preferred style of play are quite quickly worked out by opponents.

That is a very, very telling passage.
