I would hang on to Marco Silva, tbh. He is young, he's ambitious and eager to learn. I'd say he is a good manager and good prospect to be a great manager. It's his first season with us and we have been far from being hopeless. We had some exciting moments and we still can get a decent table position at the end of season.
sound like the qualities of a good intern. Does his salary reflect this?

No one exactly knows what happen. Unless you are a member of the board. It could be anything.

So you believe they were planning to keep him if he finished 7th or higher but decided to sack him as he just finished 8th?

no

he was sacked either because they always planned to sack him OR because he was despised by the fans and the football was shocking. or a bit of both

not because he finished 8th, and its silly to suggest this

We are so far behind? Manager, Players, Stadium. Fans deserve MORE. Newspapers talk the talk but they have got it right - Tired, toothless and out of ideas - Everton puffed and spluttered like a broken down steam train.

found him

João Pedro Sousa first linked up with Marco Silva at Estoril and the pair’s successful partnership has seen them go on to work together at Sporting Lisbon, Olympiakos, Hull City and Watford.

Sousa and Silva’s relationship goes back to 1998, when they played together at Portuguese side Trofense.

joao the joker i shall now call him
Such a successful partnership..

I think our players respond poorly to pressure. Everton has a nurturing, family oriented 'personality' with lots of cuddles and compliments. I think a 'tough love' environment might ultimately serve the club better...however, there is a strong risk that initiating such a new doctrine might cause the players to down tools in protest.
It's a bit of a cleft stick really.

TBF the problem extends far beyond the players; I'd wager 99% of the home fans who went to yesterdays game knew or at least had a very strong idea what was going to happen, which was probably why the atmosphere started flat and then got worse. Or if you want another example, look at every Evertonian you know's reaction to Burnley making it 1-3 on Boxing Day.

The negativity around the club - not opposition to the board, or the manager, or the RS, or even the media but to reality itself in the certain knowledge that it is going to go wrong - is worse than I have ever known it; we expect to be let down and no evidence to the contrary will disabuse us of the notion. The good thing is that such ingrained self-loathing is usually got rid of in one glorious episode.

.... The expression I was searching for was 'mentally dishevelled'. We need to monitor his situation carefully. Most of us have followed Everton for years and we are thus inured to shocking failure and disappointment. But Marco is new to Everton and so he's vulnerable to the ravages Everton inviolably imposes on anybody associated with it.
Make no mistake, Marco is in a dark, dark place...
When he was at Watford he could at least find some solace in the free Elton John cd's he was given on joining. I'm thinking that "I'm Still Standing" and "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me" would have brought some comfort and inspiration in times of difficulty. I don't think that Bill humming the Coronation Street theme would have the same therapeutic impact.

Do you know the reason for the bolded part? Why someone like Silva -his CV is not that impressive- was his dream manager? Really weird if it was Moshiri's persistent push. Brands could have gone for someone else -if he was asked- I would think.
You'd like to think so. If he is a brands pick that in itself is worrying

For every Mourinho, there is also an AVB. Such is the way of the universe. Right now Marco is closer to charting his course for the Dakar rally than bringing some silverware back to Goodison.
You need to check AVBs prem record.

It is very good. I think it's on par with Pochettino over 3 years.

Around 46% win rate.

you are not wrong mate. Never mind 'the people's club" we should rename ourselves 'the Sod's Law club' lol

Marcel Brands appointed Phillip Coco and probably had a say in Mark van Bommel getting the job there.

I dont see how people think he wouldnt be onboard in selecting Marco Silva, a manager who fits his profile of young "promising" manager.

So how did Moyes keep us going without a proper striker ?

Well he did have Yakubu, Saha and Johnson at different stages..... For me Moyes would have achieved more had Yakubu not got injured, or had the James beattie signing worked.... When martinez took over he got lukaku and we nearly got top 4, Moyes could have done with that firepower in his last 2 seasons (Jelavic was great for half a season)...

I dont think there's 'simpatico' there. I dont see Silva as Brands' choice. If true, that could easily lead to a situation where the DoF can block reinforcements and see a manager out the door.

Moshiri chose Silva. There's no use denying that. To say that Brands was ok with that prior choice is reaching for it a bit.
