...Walsh was quoted as saying new signings could be identified by the DoF or Manager but only pursued if both parties agreed. I imagine something similar is in place, although I get the impression Brands weals the power. Also, I recall Brands sanctioning the Silva acquisition ahead of the appointment.
I'd say that all these coach/DoF relationships are specific to the personalities of those involved, I dont see them being generalised.

Quite surprised that Coco moved so soon after he left and without doubt it was Moshiri pushing for Silva, I just dont consider Brands to be a yes man myself, if he didnt want him, we wouldnt have him.
Yes I see that too... moshiri would not wanted to lose face after such a public effort to get in Silva tho... brands might have had to accept this one

It is Cocu mate, not Coco :) and wasn't he fired after like 10 matches at Fenerbahce this season. Certainly not the answer for Everton. If Brands was going to go for him, then I'm glad Moshiri didn't ask him.

But someone sacked after 22 games at Watford is the answer????

Ridiculous statement... esp after cocu record at psv

...I suppose they don’t necessarilly have to like each other, but I got the impression Walsh and Koeman were working to their own agendas. Both had the power of veto but were too weak to deploy it. The result was a lack of playing and transfer strategy because two men were pulling in different directions.

I think Brands will be totally different, I imagine he’ll be conciliatory but he’ll ensure a strategy is in place and be firm enough to stick to it. I know you’re not keen on him, but I think he’s in charge and will be around for a while.

@Yid4life will put you straight about your AVB love in Frank, he certainly not up there with their most popular managers.

They didnt take to him for some reason, probably his Chelsea connection, it would be like us appointing Rodgers after he left them.

His record while not stellar was fairly decent IMO.

On 16 December 2013, Tottenham announced that Villas-Boas had left the club "by mutual consent."[37] The dismissal, with Spurs lying seventh in the Premier League and having won all six of their Europa League group games, followed a series of disappointing domestic league results that included a 6–0 defeat away to Manchester City and culminated in a 0–5 home defeat to Liverpool.[38] Villas-Boas left the club with the highest percentage of league wins of any manager in the club's Premier League era.
