It may just be he can't prepare the team properly with such a short gap inbetween the games. Or the lazy players can't deal with it. So it may start to improve again.

However for a team that has an ambition to play in Europe that isn't great.
yes, as I said in an earlier post, the packed schedule has exacerbated issues I feel. However, the parlous performances do not augur well for a lengthy tenure at Everton for Marco. He seems a bit lost...

About the same amount as everyone else.

A few shorter time gaps between games but I absolutely hate using tiredness as an excuse.
It’s also had an impact on Man City. Some squads can cope better than others with it. We’ve shown that beyond our first 11 our quality isn’t great and the team has clearly struggled to adjust to rotation.

It’s just an excuse that annoys me.

We weren’t ‘tired’ when we drew at home to Huddersfield were we?

It’s difficult the use the tiredness one as an excuse when there’s a 5-1 away win in the middle of it. Were they not tired for that one?

I think our players respond poorly to pressure. Everton has a nurturing, family oriented 'personality' with lots of cuddles and compliments. I think a 'tough love' environment might ultimately serve the club better...however, there is a strong risk that initiating such a new doctrine might cause the players to down tools in protest.
It's a bit of a cleft stick really.

The modern day Everton player doesn't understand the concept of "digging deep". They will latch on to any excuse that people are gullible enough to accept.

We are in a better position than most teams given we have only played two cup games all season. People should just accept we are completely and utterly average if we´re playing once a fortnight or twice in a week.

I think the derby result (and the way we lost) has also had a massive impact on the team’s confidence.

That was the turning point.
It’s strange though because we played extremely well against the team currently odds on to win league and we were only defeated by a fluke goal at the death. You would think that would be a boost , but from the next game v Barcodes we have regressed. Apart from Burnley , we have looked increasingly like a team that has lost conviction in its own ability. We also look like a team already at the end of a long season, leggy and short of ideas.
I don’t want to see Silva sacked , but after yesterday I have sympathy with those who do. Ultimately whoever is manager we have to allow them to manage their way out of loss of form , particularly in their first season, or we will end up dismissing managers monthly and that will achieve nothing. But it is getting harder to maintain that position by the game.

I would hang on to Marco Silva, tbh. He is young, he's ambitious and eager to learn. I'd say he is a good manager and good prospect to be a great manager. It's his first season with us and we have been far from being hopeless. We had some exciting moments and we still can get a decent table position at the end of season.

It isn't an excuse for crap performances.

But, if a player's not playing well - like take Gomes as an example - then the fact that he has a knock and is clearly a bit knackered, isn't going to help, is it?

It's just another thing that could be factored in, that's all. Not a reason or an excuse, though.

He was in charge at Watford for 24 games and got 26 points, they were 10th in the league, he was sacked after winning one game in their last 11 matches.
He's been here for 21 games and has 27 points, we sit in 10th position, he's won one match in his last 8 games, Watford without him now sit above us in 9th place. So Not much difference from his spell at Watford as far as I can see.
Sam Allardyce after 21 games in charge with us had amassed 30 points.
He was here for 24 games overall and got 34 points in total, Silva would need 7 points from the next three fixtures just to equal Allardyces overall total.
If he was an old gammon faced Englishman I get the feeling he'd be facing the wrath of the majority on here and ran out the door as a massive fraud. Not good enough for Watford now equals Good enough for Everton? I think he's one of the luckiest men in football landing the Everton managers job but he'll have to be even luckier to keep it for more than a year or two. Hopefully results will improve and this is just a blip which will be forgotten about when he achieves success but it's not looking likely from where I'm watching.
