Bad run of results doesn't excuses the level we have fallen to in recent weeks. Nor does a lack of confidence justify playing as badly as we have done. If their confidence is that shot then the manager and his team aren't doing their jobs properly. Other teams have plenty of bad runs yet don't fall to pieces like we do after conceding a single goal. They're professional footballers, if they seriously lack that much confidence we need a psychiatrist and a motivational speaker for them, never mind a manager.

I'm afraid I can see things getting a lot worse at this rate. I see nothing that convinces me that Silva and this team will turn things around as we stand. Oh I'm not saying we'll get relegated, there's still worse teams then us in this league but unless Silva addresses this mentally fragile side and works with them to start stringing a couple of passes together without an endless succession of mistakes we're almost certainly looking at a lower mid-table finish as low as fourteen or fifteen. Him being sacked is not is repeat NOT what I want I want Everton to do well or be hard to beat or at least be competent, we don't even look that right now!
Confidence should never sink to the depths we've been seeing for the last several weeks.

The worrying bit for me is seeing zero improvement

The fact that he's seeing and saying it is a start. Now he needs to actually sort it.

The absolute priority though should be working on defending set pieces.

The players seem quite introverted and the manager is also one of few words.

I wonder if when things are going well this is a blessing, yet when the opposite occurs we just fold easily.

Klopp looning about after that last minute horror was psychologically damaging.

Marco saying quite meekly that he was fine with it was possibly more damaging than first thought. You need your leaders to lead. A man you would follow into battle without question.

I want Silva to succeed but I am really worried that his stall has been set out and we are not going to break that underachievers/also rans tag.

Think you're completely wrong here tbh
I really can't see it happening so long as we stay around where we've been this season and not drift any further down the table.

I'm not impressed at the moment.

I don't think many of us are but there is a valid argument for giving him time and some transfer windows so that he can get the players he believes he needs to play the way he wants. We've not yet seen him have the opportunity to actually build a squad in England, he's not lasted long enough at the clubs previous.

It's obvious right now how inadequate most of our squad is for the way he appears to want us to play and so the question is will Moshiri give him the opportunity, time, and resources required to build a team the way Silva wants. I believe Moshiri will because he's put his eggs in this basket and he will give him the same amount of time he gave Koeman.

The unknown factor is Brands. What are his thoughts and opinions right now and how much of a say does he really have in the decision making regarding our manager?

Lack if confidence is just the latest go-to excuse of the day for us now. Yeah let's pretend that the derby destroyed our confidence! Because we were doing so well before that weren't we? I mean we beat........ erm........oh yeah there was.........Oh yeah we fluked a win againt ten man Leicester City didn't we! Oh my what form we were in eh?!

Of course it doesn't excuse the results. There really isn't some excusing of these results like Brighton and Leicester. I agree that the manager has to take some responsibility for the confidence and the mentality at the club and that right now it is lacking and he doesn't appear to be taking the lead and instilling the confidence back into our players.

Sam had brought a sports psychologist with him to the club and I wonder if they were let go when he left.

I'd imagine that anyone connected with BFS was removed from the club he second he was sacked tbh. Even if they were actually doing some good. I still think it's beyond pathetic that so called professionals can crumble so easily due to a lack of confidence. A player or to, sure i can see that but a whole team of them?! WTF is wrong with this club? No wonder we never win anything when we have such a losers mentality hanging over the club and ingrained into our players.

So you're saying that without substantial investment we can't expect his team to even convincingly beat Lincoln City at home? What a manager we've got on our hands here eh?!

If we played in their league every week, we would walk it, obvs. But unless you are 12, every single season some lower league team turns up in a game against a top PL team. Its their one off attempt at a headline.

They are a decent side. In form. We won. The 3rd round of the FA cup rarely has a PL team as the headline, unless they get beat.
