I am 100% behind the idea of keeping a long term manager for the sake of stability but I'm not convinced at all that Silva is the correct one.

I really want to be proven wrong, but there hasn't really been one moment so far where I've felt there is a positive and clear direction where he is taking us.

The zonal marking is fine...some of our players are man to man with the 2 CBs zonally allowing them to have the freedom to attack the ball.

The only snag as weve seen (and the lincoln player said) is height at the back post...we need a new right back anyway so if we get a big one over 6ft problem solved.

Pretty much this, we need stability, but we need it with the right manager, Moyes was the right man at that time, but right now we have seen nothing from Silva to say he is the right man in the current Premier League and with the budgets we have
I hope he is, as we really dont want another fresh start, but we also cant afford to stand still for two seasons

Zat you are spot on. Running JonJoe or Coleman underneath their biggest aerial threat just isn't effective, although I understand the intent behind it. The CBs have to jump out a bit more aggressively and Pickford isn't the best in the air off corners. That being said, that wasn't the problem on the free kick we conceded against Lincoln.

It’s really not fine. Letting a ton of brutes have a run at the ball every set piece is suicide.

Here is the thing though. The last time we had long term stability we won nothing and achieved nothing under Moyes.

In fact if then was now, Moyes would have been sacked for that second season.

The reason we need to back the manager , ie Silva, is simply because how can brands build a team for him if he was sacked after 7 months? Silva is doing the job right now with mostly other managers players in his squad. How do you know that another 4-5 players to give him his options off the bench would not turn our fortunes around?

A loose example but going back to when Messi made the breakthrough at Barcelona. The club then and went and sold deco, ronaldhinio , gudjonseen, Hebert etc just to make room for him in the team. It worked wonders for them and they regained the title and have been successful as a result.

The connection I am trying to make is that there are players at the club like Walcott, siggurdson, gueye, Coleman, lewen to name a few that are there in the team now but if Silva wanted to get rid of them for his team then he should have that chance to.

You.cant judge a manager after 6 months unless they really are struggling. Silva is bang average right now, where we have been for 4 years, so right now he is meeting expectation whether you like it or not.

It's fine if the players do their jobs.

We've man marked for the past five years and have been equally as crap.

We’ve also had short CB’s. I think if you ask any attacker they’d rather get a run on a static defender than have someone grappling with them.

However like I said on Saturday I think with VAR man marking is just dead.

Avoided relegation in 02
Took us from a team who consistently battled relegation to one qualifying for European competition on a minuscule net spend.
Had a huge role in the development of finch farm
Kept us afloat through incredible player trading and scouting
Took us to our only cup final since 95.

We’d either be in league 2 or completely liquidated if it wasn’t for Moyes and the incompetent boards of the time had been paired with an incompetent manager.

Mate.

Not getting relegated and losing cup finals are not achievements.

What did Moyes win?

The club hadn't been relegated for 50 years, Moyes not going down as a success story is why we haven't won anything for over 20 years. That's the extent of some people's idea of success.

Yes it was very good management , which considering his paycheck he earned it. But as manager of Everton he was a complete failure.
