He could get saked in 4 weeks....get him free then....but would we still want him then!?!

That says it all to me....he is a trendy choice.....3 months time another cool name Will he trendy.

We should just calm down for a few months.
I think it's a little unfair to dismiss him as a 'trendy' manager. His CV is very impressive considering his age. He is already far more experienced in our league alone ,as well as in first team management generally, than our caretaker.
Considering the options ,and our apparent unwillingness to search further afield, I think he is the outstanding candidate.
The sooner this appointment is made, and after today's conference I am 90% certain it will be, the better for us.

Totally agree. Can't believe the shouts that Unsworth is a better option. This guy has a fantastic record in Portugal and Greece and has done a good job a two very poor Premier League sides in the 11 months he's been in England.

I was all for giving Unsworth a chance but he's done nothing whatsoever to suggest he's up to the job IMO. Leaving Unsworth in would be an absolute disaster and thankfully it looks like the board have realised, otherwise he'd have been handed the job over the past couple of weeks.

But the actual reality is he did get Hull into a position where they “they could have actually survived”.....should have survived, in fact :(

But he blew it.....against Sunderland

Watford have just lost three games in a row

I must have fallen asleep and woken up in Bizarro World or sommat, a place were everything is the opposite of what it is here on planet Earth.

Or in an airy fairy world were people are so desperate for happy news they close their eyes to what is blindingly obvious.

That Hi Ho Silva’s year in England has been pretty meh.

But to be honest with you, it is not so much the hiring of him that is puzzling me....it is the very idea that we would pay ten million quid to get him.

That is just nuts.....because he could well be out of a job at Christmas if Watford keep on at the rate they are going and we could have him for nowt :pint2:

The mad thing is that if Watford lose on Sunday to make it four defeats on the trot, he will likely be installed here on Monday morning as their owners will gladly take the ten million being offered

Only flaming Everton would be breaking the bank to entice a bloke with his recent form into the club ;)
Watford's last three games were Chelsea away, which they should have won, Stoke at home, which granted isn't great, and Everton away, which they were also very unlucky to lose. We got very, very lucky in that game. Watford are also still 9th after those three losses so they're still punching above their weight.

Not sure what you're on about with the Bizarro comment, show me where I've been wildly optimistic about the possibility of us bringing in Silva. I rate him as a young up and coming manager, who has proven he can work in this league and in adverse circumstances. If anything it's you who is acting like Mr. Damon, talking guff, exaggerating things and generally being a bit of a nuisance.

Again, who would you rather us go for instead of Silva? If we've got as much money as Moshiri would like us to believe then £10m is small fry so I really don't see the issue if that's what it comes to. We paid £5m for Koeman and he had 1 year left on his contract. I'm surprised it's taken this long for transfer fees for managers to become more commonplace, they're one of the most important individuals in any club and in my opinion should be the highest paid person in the squad/coaching staff.

I think this is the boards conclusion...not via any due process, just because they don't have a clue and hope DU can hold on and in the summer, somebody - anybody will take the job and in bailing them out, take the pressure off for a little while

If we pull this off we're actually going to be hated soo much. We're like second grade bullies who only target and rob second grade victims just because we can.

You are trying to convince yourself of sommat you don’t even believe yourself, Bainsey.

Either that or you are both turning a blind eye and cocking a deaf ear to the possible downside of employing Mr. Silva.

And based on his record since April, they are quite considerable I am afraid :p

There are no ideal outcomes here in our scenario Khal. We need to pick an up and comer who is ambitious and got that winning desire and strength of character that this club needs. Our board aren't capable of luring an Ancelotti etc.

I'm not sure if Silva is the man. I'm really not. But I certainly wouldn't write him off before he came. He's not a guaranteed failure or guaranteed mediocrity like Sam. Theres at least a chamce of more. If he's appointed then he gets my full backing until such time as it's abundantly clear he's not doing his job satisfactorily.
