Too much work gone into this now. Watford's statements are not statements of strength, they're the opposite. If they wanted this over they'd just blow the whistle on Everton and report them for tapping up. You saw what happened with Liverpool over VVD in the summer. It ends matters very quickly. But Watford dont want that. They want about £15M compo.

As a fan of WFC, wheres your evidence of £15m being enough out of interest? We bought Andre Gray for £18m - so I strongly doubt £15m is enough. We can't report you for tapping up if you haven't done it. Watford's statements are nothing as we haven't made any. I agree Silva is open to the move as he has had ample chance to dismiss it and isn't doing so. What's been heavily reported is we have said 'not at any cost' to you. How that constitutes there being an acceptable figure I don't understand? And we have shown today that he will get on with the job with us until told otherwise. He may be open to a move - but I don't see him actively angling for it.

This outlook, from the Watford fans forum, says it all really (except that the £150m transfer kitty is more recent than usual).

Youre forgetting something. And that's the transfer kitty. Everton managers are usually given hundred and fifty odd million from owner to sort the team out. If they don't they are gone usually. In our case the Pozzos have a model buying players that are seen in the main as a bargain with the potential of being sold later on.
If I was a manager and head coach I would rather have the Everton model. So I don't blame him for having a go there.
