...I honestly think everybody carries risk so I wouldn’t argue for anybody in particular. Saying that, I know Silva did a terrific job at Hull last season despite them being relegated. I highlighted him at the time and will be more than happy if he’s our new manager.

Folk on here who are much more knowledgeable than me on the global game rate him and even @davek ‘doesn’t mind’ if he’s appointed.

He spoke to with us for 15 minutes after the goodison game behind closed doors. Get in the real world do honestly believe we would offer a compensation package for a manager who hasn't already agreed a deal.

Then thats tapping up...and if you have evidence to support that happened, then you can bet our club would have it as well.

Lets all learn from the love in we first had with Koeman. Acting like he is gonna do great here is premature. Thought you'd have learnt.

To be fair, I dont think there was a much of a love in with Koeman, the fact he seemed to keep going on holiday before signing then went back on holiday without giving an interview rubbed a few fans up the wrong way, I remember hearing people calling him the Dutch Moyes early last season, he had the heir of someone who felt he was too good for Everton so as soon as it went wrong he wasn't getting the bennefit of the doubt, people took to Martinez more because he actually wanted to engage with the club and fans and looked like he genuinely wanted to manage Everton, that went south obviously, I think the moral of the story is erm ....just be better ffs or something and appreciate the opportunity to manage Everton

I'll be honest, I wanted Tuchel as I genuinely think he has the tools to take us to the next level. But that was virtually a non starter. Didn't want allardyce, Dyche would have been the safe option, but I agree there is something I like about silva. He reminds of Potch when he was at saints, hard working players with a team ethic. Not saying he will do as good a job as Potch at Spurs here, but he does seem to be highly regarded throughout the football fraternity not just by Watford fans.

Just out of interest what price so you think your board would Put on him? Take into context that Mourinho, who has 3 times loner to run on his deal than Silva and is paid about 10 times as much would command up to 30 million?

The resignation is the nuclear option. Nobody wins from that. I don't think any party will behave in too outrageous a manner as they will not want that to occur.

This is my point. I don't think there is a figure. As the scope is anywhere between £10m-£30m and we simply don't need that money. Everyone has a price but the price range of compensation seemingly doesn't make it tempting at all for us to accept. Should that range be bigger, you'd have more chance IMO.

If it happened, then I would be astonished if it was anything more than a polite enquiry about how he was enjoying England and what he saw his future as. If, and its a big if, there was a hint of encouragement, Everton would have then discreetly shifted the talks to agents and that.

I can't see him resigning. IMO thats far too risky for him. And why resign if he hasn't spoken to you or have any knowledge of what you're offering? He would resign knowing the package on offer and if we have refused permission for him to talk, that offer would come very close to tapping up I'd say. Could be a long week either way. I expect the next 24hrs will see something official from us saying whats been widely reported on our stance.

Money doesn’t matter though mate. If a manager or player wants to leave, they leave. We had the same with Lukaku.

There’s no point in hanging on to someone who doesn’t want to be there, it creates a bad vibe around the place.

I agree. Money aint the issue, not between the clubs anyrate. Said it ages ago. Ball in his court. If he fancies it, he will walk. If not, then ok.

I have been worried that a lot of the money spent in the summer will end up having been wasted. However, I think Silva is the sort of manager Davy and Sandro would love to have and I can see our summer signings blossoming under his tutelage.
