...what's the hold up here? :coffee:

Never change, D.

I know the board are a joke mate but to say that is plain daft.

How So? We sacked a manager 5 weeks ago and still aren't any closer to hiring one. It took us 4 weeks just to ask Watford and be told no.

5 weeks ffs, I'm not throwing a tantrum here, just trying to make the point that clubs aren't meant to spend 5 weeks minimum to get a new manager in!

Kenwright would have ended this the moment Dutch Disaster was out the door: "Unsy: take us to the end of the season, lad".

And, tbh, I dont doubt that would be a wise strategy. DU would get the right attitude from the players and worse case scenario we'd end up about 14th. Then we could look around for good managers out of contract.

Moshiri/Usmanov will win the day though.
I think David Unsworth is the fall back position. I think that if Silva isn't coming now then we will be back in for him next summer , but in the meantime we will appoint an interim manager which was what Allyrdyce was supposed to be.

However, from a Marco Silva perspective , there is no doubt he is being courted by Everton. I think this means a big salary but I think it also probably means a big transfer budget also.
I think that if he does move to Everton and is successful at Goodison then if he moves upwards again then his next move will be to one of the really big clubs.

At the moment Watford are ahead of Everton in the league, but not by a huge number of points, but taken over the last number of seasons there is no doubt which is the bigger or more successful club. I think this job is seen as a big opportunity and I think that will win out.

There are a couple of elite managers currently out of work. Whilst we may not be the most attractive project right now and maybe we've sounded them out and we've been told to do one but offering that kind of money as an incentive would no doubt change their opinion.
I think Silva looks a good manager, he could be the next Pochettino or he could be another Martinez. 10-15m is an awfully lot of money to find out which he is.

Why is that a lot of money? If you look at the players market, bang average prem players are up fot that price. Some decent Championship players are up for more. Why is a manager considered less important than the players when they do most if the important work. If you want to see a team without a strong, great manager, see us right now. If you want to see a team with a great manager, see Spurs or historically, United. Id happily see us pay £50m for Silva if he got the best out if our players. I just don't get the attitude that managers/head coaches are worth less to the team.

So you think by letting silva go to wba achieves anything? - really is daft.

Mate to be honest I was never in favour of sacking Koeman. Now I don't understand what the club wants. A week ago they wanted Allardyce till the end of the season which would have entailed physical, aggressive football with focus on clean sheets mainly. It seems like they are clueless and want to spend or rather waste as much money as possible hoping it will click for us. While we do that, the team looks without any direction.

In the last 4 years we have had following footballing philosophies:

Moyes: Cautious, defensive and pragmatic (4-5-1)
Martinez: Open, expansive and weak defensively (4-2-3-1 and 4-3-3)
Koeman (1st season): Blunt, high pressing, improved defence (3-5-2)
.
.
.
Silva: Forward thinking with movement.

All different managers with varying philosophies. Hence I just want some clarity what the club wants and how much patience they will now have. Otherwise I am 100% sure our fans will label Silva as the Portuguese Martinez the moment things go south.

If they didn't have the money mate they woudnt do it. It's all upto the board and there hiring and firing is all upto them we as fans just wants what's best for our club

It shows the board up as being crap. Everyone knows we want Silva so if 5-6 weeks down the line we didn't get him and he went elsewhere who had since sacked their manager then there would be a lot more questions asked of the board in the media .

So no not daft at all, 5 weeks without a manager , it's not normal.
How do you know it took us 4 weeks to ask Watford ?

Because jim white said so .

Which sadly is the official mouthpiece of the owner now.

And if we didn't take 4 weeks to ask then we asked, got told no and then did nothing before coming back to Watford again. which is even worse tbh
