Mate it takes weeks sometimes longer to thrash out these deals. Even in standard jobs it can be weeks before you actually land the job and everything is finalised. You're just making yourself look stupid by being so naive. Do you actually believe that in the football world of multi million pound deals, agents, contracts, legalities, settlements and paper work galore, that it is as simplified as a club just calling up and saying to another, "Yeah we want your manager, here's the money, thanks. He starts tomorrow." As I said earlier, United were in talks with Lukaku from January that we know of, in reality it couldve been much longer as the simple fact is that media and the fans are the last to hear about it. This Silva deal has been going on since before we played you lot and I'd be very surprised if we didn't land him and if we don't now we will come summer.
A very convenient way to save face if you fail to get him now that is.

See I don’t agree it’s a “mess” at all, despite what’s being said by some on here and some in the media who should know better. We could easily have appointed a manager 24 hours after Koeman was sacked.

West Ham moved quickly, well done them. And look who they got in. We could have appointed Allardyce quickly also but he clearly wasn’t first choice either.

This is a very big decision that must be the right decision. Moshiri we now know wants your manager, and it’s proving difficult in getting him. That’s nobody’s fault it’s just the way it is. If Silva ultimately becomes the new Everton manager and Moshiri gets his man, then I’m sure he won’t care a jot how long it’s taken despite what the likes of that plank Joey Barton are saying.
Joey Barton has zero credibility anyway, after his personal insults directed at Unsworth. With his conduct as a player and his subsequent ban from football, I fail to see why anyone should listen to the opinions of this idiot, whose actions brought disgrace to himself and the game.

I'd say you'd be in a worse position if you withdrew your interest and ended up with Unsworth. If his head has been turned, we coped pretty well with that yesterday so I have faith we'll be okay. Thanks for the concern though.

All joking aside I'd be very surprised if this happened (though hearing contradictory reports). My take of it, for what it's worth (feel free to put your stance).

1) Silva would be interested in at least talking to Everton.

2) Watford fans are surprised, as well as justifiably upset at this. In no small part is this down to Everton's inability to communicate it's vision, and opportunities it may or may not have via Moshiri.

3) Watford have a value of a manager that is significantly higher than standard release clauses for managers, reflecting the centrality he has had to the strong performances this year. You could put an argument, at this moment he is priceless to them, with it being mid season.

4) For Everton, he is a strong candidate of a number they could speak too. It doesn't neccesarily make sense to pay £15+ million for someone they could get very cheaply in the summer.

5) For Silva, he could try the nuclear option of resignation. He runs the risk of 6-18 months gardening leave (like 6 given the break clause n the deal). This is not likely to benefit him in any way. Positive performances for Watford will, so there is incentive to stay and continue doing well. It's strengthens Watfords hands.

6) Silva I think senses this is his moment to get the Everton job. In the summer, with Everton (Hopefully) safe, a huge amount of money, 3 months to rebuild they are a more attractive prospect. Likewise more candidates are available, particularly Tuchel & Ancelotti who will be more open to approaches, as well as even Simeone. Silva would also be a strong candidate but by no means the top choice.

Thats my summation. All I can see changing it, is if a figure that EFC are prepared to pay for an early release, can match to a figure Watford feel represents too good value for money to turn down for a manager who may go in 6 months.

Cheers for that mate. That’s probably the most logical and well put contribution I have read in ages.

I think it’s good you’ve laid out the different outcomes, it shows it’s not as clean cut as some may hope.
