Marco Silva

Jim White just said ‘make no mistake, Everton are toiling in their efforts to make Marco Silva their new manager. It’s that straightforward...’ on TalkSport. He’s also saying he’s more critical of Moshiri that he’s ever been in the past because of it.

Whether that comes from the top due to his ‘unique’ relationship with your owner or not is another thing.

I can see this dragging on until the summer now. You’ll give it to Unsworth short-term hoping to return and get Silva in the summer, making use of a clause which, for me, goes against whats happening now. I can’t believe we’d be so stubborn about letting him go if there’s a clause allowing him to do it cheaply/free in 6 months time. Doesn’t make business sense. Or you’ll give it to LVG - who I actually think would do a decent job for you given a chance.

Most, not all, WFC fans were hoping he’d at least see out 2 seasons given how he’s got us playing but we’ve always known he’d move on to bigger things. This saga leads me to think he’ll likely be gone after one season. Whether that’s to you or not probably depends on what other jobs become available.

This summer break clause thing is mental, if you could potentially get roughly £15m out of us, or let him go for either nothing or buttons in the summer is mental.

Am sure the owners would have some other manager up their sleeves, even though they wouldn't want to lose face - would be better taking the money.

..no news, one way or the other suggests to me that there’s plenty going on behind the scenes at Watford FC. It would only take a statement from Silva to say he’s staying, it would only take a statement from Silva to say he wants to leave. I suspect he wants to do this right rather than be seen to force a move.

No news is not particularly bad news at this point.

I think the silence from all parties tell us that things are happening in the background.

I think that compensation is the issue, I don't believe the reported amount of 15 m is correct or even close to being correct.
If a deal is to be done then Watford will also want to have a replacement more or less ready to go and this may set off a domino effect which could take some time.

I think the only thing that is clear is that Everton have not walked away from getting Silva.

Hence what I said yesterday, it’s likely to be the same clause as QSF and Mazzarri had, that both parties have to agree in the summer to part ways. If we want to keep him, it’s likely to be the same situation we have now. The whole Pozzo model is based around selling players at their most optimal value (the only time they didn’t was Deeney to Leicester for £25m, because he was more than a captain to us at a time when the manager had fallen out with the whole dressing room) - it just goes against any transfer deal they’ve ever done to allow someone to leave for a pre-agreed release clause.

I really think if Unsworth was the realistic fall back option we wouldn't be seeing other names entering the betting.

LvG to me would be a poor choice, although tbf I wouldn't dismiss him as poor out of hand solely judging him on the dreadfully painful to watch slow football Utd played under him, but it is the most recent evidence we have. His previous record undoubtedly was very good but it's the more recent evidence that sticks in the mind and that despite a respectable top four finish and FA cup success. He did have much better players available to him at Utd and rather stumbled on Rashford and others due to injuries which gave their season a decent final flourish

I've an idea, and obviously only my opinion, that Moshiri is viewing Unsworth as no alternative at all.

Jim White's show is like every other Talksh*t show, it's all about creating debate. They would argue water isn't wet if it caused listeners to tune in and call up.

Or we aren't doing anything further yet and being pedantic as usual

Bills in charge 24-7 to get it done ;)

rightly so tbf, the mans had 6/7 games to showcase what he can do and by no means is it an easy job to get the team going after he's taken over but for me we have shown absolutely no signs of turning it around, bean beaten quite handy in most games, got lucky against Watford because of the keeper and then tom clev missing a pen, and from what I see/hear lucky to get a draw against bottom of the league on the weekend

This is the Everton way...stony silence. Kenwright still penny pinching ?? Moshiri still wanting Simeone?? Get on with it yer gang of clowns....thats if he is coming ?

I’ll be honest mate Jim White is an absolute mouthpiece who tries to cosy up to owners and management to feed his own grossly inflated ego.

Every Evertonian I know including myself is totally embarrassed with his perceived “special relationship” with our owner (whether it be true or not) and doesn’t believe a word that comes out of the tangoed cesspit he calls his mouth.

As for Silva, we won’t get him. Not a chance.
