Not up their arse at all. Watford are my 2nd team (a distant 2nd, admittedly). I think it's proper snake behaviour from Silva, this, but that doesn't mean I don't want him as our manager. If we can get him, great, but in their position I'd be wanting a tiny bit more loyalty than just 12 games after signing a 2 year deal

TBH if I were in their position, I'd have simply refused to deal with us

Indeed.

I like Watford.....my sister lives in Bushey, just on the outskirts and the local Hornet fans are all decent fellows, the ones I know.

Nor am I convinced about the credentials of Silva, thinking this whole “near miracle” thingy at Hull is overstated and I have some sympathy with your POV about his potential lack of loyalty.

In the case of Watford’s owners though I would just imagine any manager they employ will always be open to a better offer no matter how short a time he has been there as they just seem to fire fellows at will no matter how relatively successful they have been.....and in interviews I have read with them they positively revel in that fact.

This crisis is somewhat of their own making IMO.....the biter bit, as it were.

Because they have made a red hot seat out of their own manager’s chair.

(that is if he comes.....which I doubt very much anyway :()

I do get this POV, but I keep thinking how I would have reacted if Koeman (for the sake of argument) has very obviously been trying to wrangle a move to Arsenal or someone like that after 12 games. I think I'd have burst blood vessels with my levels of fume.

Maybe I'm being unreasonably old-fashioned about it, but no matter how I try not to, I'm left with the feeling that it's just not right

If Everton had been firing managers frequently and for no good reason, I think I;d have the view that it was a case of biter bitten.

Watford are not the team to feel sympathy for in this instance.

Did anyone even remotely doubt that Unsworth would take that game? Even if we had a Silva announcement yesterday it'd have been the case.

A bit of info that doesn't shift the dial one millimetre.
Silva could still take it if appointed tomorrow (officially) but I'd imagine they'll let Unsy have a 'send off' match and Silva will watch from the stands taking notes I hope lol. Did he take training at Watford today btw? Also I was thinking, he doesn't have his own staff at Watford does he? Watford hire their own I think. Hope the club look to employ some top staff if that's the case, ones that don't need to change with the manager.

I think the difference is that we stand by managers as long as they are doing a decent enough job.

The “old fashioned” way, as you say.

Ergo we, both as a club and as fans, feel we are entitled to expect a bit of reciprocation and principled fellows like yourself adhere to this honourable way of doing things.

The current regime at Watford is totally different.....managers are just replaced on a whim on an annual basis regardless of results as far as I can see.

Loyalty among employees in any business will not be engendered by that type of behaviour.

Not sure on that, mate. Interesting if true.

Yeah he took training mate.

His assistants are all Portuguese, so on that basis you would generally assume they are Silva appointees, and move with him between clubs.
Open to correction.
