Difficult to win with any appointment other than getting one of the best managers in the world. If we’d just swooped on Silva straight from Porto then we’d all probably be made up. Because he’s done a small stint in the prem though he’s a more known quantity and is therefore seen as not as exciting by some. Interestingly she showed his team to be very solid at Hull but quite expansive at Watford. His Home record regardless of where he has been is excellent though.

I think if WE had cast the recruitment net a little wider we would have found better. To name but a few:-

1. Marcelo Gallardo - won everything in Argentina and South America with River. Great style of play, forward/revolutionary tactician and all the top Italaian and spanish clubs are sniffing around him...he is ready to move to Europe.

2. Paulo Fonseca - Great experience in Portugal and then with Shaktar winning trophies and accolades for coaching ability in both countries. He's fed up with life in Ukraine (who wouldn't be) and is looking for a move

3. Lucien Favre - won trophies in Switzerland and was voted manager of the year in Germany for 5 years running when he managed Herta and BMG.
Great tactician and coach

I also quite like the guy at Wolves Espirito Santo - I like the way he has got them playing and I think they will be an interesting team to watch next year when they get promoted to the PL.

Agree with all those. Very exciting managers especially Favre.

Our African prince must be absolutely delighted, getting Koemans locker and now Silva coming in...

I hope his training methods aren't too dissimilar to his distant relative Terry Silver who was honoured to have a part in Karate Kid 3.

The Niasse/Silva combination beat Liverpool, maybe just maybe it could strike again this year!

All of them are winners, all of them have top-flight managerial experience, and all of them are lauded as great coaches and tacticians...But hey we have Elstone, Kenwright and Walsh running the recruitment. What chance did we ever have!!!
