So he won the league with them after changing formation. He won the FA Cup this year. You are talking about Chelsea and the ready made to challenge squad he took over. I would say he failed and had a bad season with the squad he had this season. Yes an FA Cup to Everton is a massive success because we are in comparison not a patch on Chelsea but to Chelsea the season has been a failure so the thought of Conte managing Everton also equals a 7th or 8th position in my eyes. Remember lads can these top managers manage with a mediocre squad with less money than the top 6 and still come up trumps. Maybe but it's still questionable. As someone has already correctly stated why would a top manager come to Everton knowing we are not currently a good team and damage his reputation. Top managers will only take on top teams that only need a tweak here and there and with a massive budget to sign almost anyone they like. We are nowhere near being good enough or rich enough for that risk.
I’m not sure what your point is here, my point is clear. Show some ambition instead of chopping and changing managers every 18months and wondering why players are a hopeless mix of previous managers plans

We aren't 'trying so hard to get him'.

It's all-but done and will have been for weeks.
And THAT, right there, is why people are quite annoyed by this. We have a singular focus on a manager who got relegated and then sacked by Watford in the space of less than a year. There are a lot of managers in world football and a decent number of them are available for no compensation. Yet we are arguing with fn Watford over a manager they sacked over 6 months ago.

How do you know we havent spoken to anybody else tho mate?

People said the same when we appointed Koeman, then Tuchel and that fella from the Swiss league came out and said we were talking to them.

We probably have spoken to Emery, Wenger and all the other available managers, they all probably said no thanks.

Flip side, how do you know we have? There has been no indication that anyone else was ever considered for the job. There not much of a chance Fonseca, so to speak, would have stayed in the Ukraine had we offered him the job.

Why not mate?

He went to speak to West Ham by all accounts.

He can stay in the Ukraine where hes happy, win titles and cups and play in the CL, what possible reason would he have for coming here?

You're ignoring all of the other factors though, aren't you

But okay

also @riddick , as @MoutsGoat says, we may well have spoken to the others.

Silva was probably tied up months ago, but that doesn't mean we didn't check with others as well, or didn't have back up plans

But Silva is the one Moshiri wanted in November and is the one he wants now.

You seem to think Silva's stock has fallen because he was sacked by a clueless Watford board who lost close to £12m on that decision.

It hasn't.

You put an awful lot of faith in someone who wanted out at the first conceivable opportunity for a club he was at for 4 months.

A week's a long time in football. We've been on the floor this season and that lot have been riding high on praise from all quarters.

This time next week we'll have all our new movers and shakers in and looking to move quickly before the World Cup starts to shift out / sign players...and Liverpool will have just received a pasting from Madrid and in disarray with Klopp onto his 6th final loss and Salah walking on them.
