Literally can think of only two positives to getting Silva

1 - he’s not Sam Allardyce

And

2 - He seems to really want to manage us which is nice. But might make him slightly mentally unstable.
And he actually plays attractive football? Look at his accomplishments with a nothing club in portugal. He didn't relegate hull like a lot of you like to claim and had watfords average squad playing beautiful football. At least we didn't get a 100 year old pellegrini

No seems about right to me.

The only managers we can attract are the 1s who want a nice wedge.

None of the top, top managers are interested in money, its about building their image, building their brand, they dont do at Everton.

Our last 2 managers are getting paid peanuts by tinpot International teams.
That's because they are still being paid by us!

Pretty sure we had the same reaction to a relegated manager when Martinez took over.

I was all for giving him a chance and I feel the same about Silva.

Silva has better resources available to him as well and a sought after DOF.

Could be a good thing this, better than the old trusty and tried / tired old manager route.

Emery unproven? Just the 3 Europa leagues then....

Pellegrini is old, granted, if that what you are saying. Too old? Why? He's a proven winner who plays good football. Should have been brought in, instead of Koeman.

Pellegrini is a terrible appointment for West Ham. Retired to China two years ago and was only tempted back by £10m a year from a tragic, desperate club.

Not only that but he left City in a terrible state considering the team he took over and the resources afforded to him. Spent a combined £70m on Bony and Mangala. Coasted to the title in his first season on the back of Mancini’s team and they got progressively worse after that, struggling to finish in the top 4 on goal difference in his last season. Pep came in and had to spend £200m on full backs because they had 4 at the club that were all over 32, and they had Aguero as their only serviceable striker.

I don’t rate Silva, but I’d have him over Pellegrini every single day of the week.

Wondering more about Eddie Howe. Worked his way up with Bournemouth. Kept them up. Progressing. Not a big club there, and he is an Evertonian. Something to be said for someone who "gets it", after FS. Thinking back to Harry Catterick - give him time, and reach for the top. Not sure what Silva has that Howe does not.
His wife won’t travel north of Watford

Too true leads any Blue bar a few into a false sense of security as with that dire football Sam served up it's not going to be hard to beat one hopes - I am sure any half decent young manager can rebuild our team in his own style!
Silva ticks some boxes so he looks to be favorite - our other targets have bit the dust so far.....

That sounds familiar

Erm... and that didn't turn out very well.

I must be about the only one here who’s quite excited by the news Silva will be taking over.

He’s young, hungry & has plenty of managerial experience, albeit none with the kind of financial backing he’s about to receive.

He has a major job on his hands firstly trimming this squad down, then bringing in the quality to improve us. I would hope Brands & Silva will have already identified the targets & passed this info on to DBB & the rest of the Board to start the transfer negotiations.

As a fan base we really must get behind this guy, we’ve been deprived of any type of enjoyable football since Martinez in his first season.

Silva appears to focus on high press, high energy football. He’s going to have to either change the mentality of this current squad or replace them as it’s clear few are capable of this style of football.

It is exactly how I want us to play. I’m sick of watching us sit back mid half & even deeper & try and nick something on the break with players who frankly aren’t good enough to counter attack.

We haven’t got quick ball carrying central midfielders (something Ross could have been if he’d played at 8, instead of 10).

Silva also can play two up front - another HUGE tick for me. We’ll need to buy another 9 but we needed that anyway. That signing alone could be key to next seasons success. Maybe Brands has a boss South American in the wings ready to dazzle us.

Summarising ......

Two weeks ago I was a flat as a badly made pancake, completely disillusioned with Everton & football in general.

Now, the expectation & excitement for the new season is already beginning to bubble. It feels like Moshiri has finally thought it through, hell ..... it looks like he has a plan.

Patience & understanding. That’s what we are going to need. Some of these players will have not been asked to do what this guy will demand. I’m going to enjoy the transition .......

The hopeless romantic fool that I am is anticipating a Silva lining in the future.

....... the night is darkest just before the dawn.

First post about Silva that makes me hopeful. I've posted concerns about him previously.
Excellent post here

Remember how much we aged Martinez in 2 and a half years? We turned Koeman in to Phil Mitchell as well. Things are looking bleak for Marco
