Poor from Marcel Brands if that's the case.

As I said last week;

Sacking a manager for finishing 8th / 9th in his first season? Depends on expectations of course. But giving him a chance to be more consistent wasn’t a particularly bad call IMO.

Especially if the players like him and you don’t want another immediate unnecessary overhaul.

They sacked Allardyce didn't they after he finished 8th?

Bigger picture.

They had a bigger picture in mind.

If that bigger picture has gone after 7 games, then I question their judgement.

I agree. If you hire somebody on the basis of a long term project that your director of football states will take 4 or 5 transfer windows to be in a position where they've structured the football club in the way they want, if you hire him based on his ability to develop young talent and then sign him some outstanding youngsters to work with, if you as a DoF have to compromise in the transfer window in what you can hand him to work with.... Then binning him off two months into the season is somewhat antithetical to the philosophy you've publically espoused.

Even he has a face like a smacked arse and veers alarmingly between suits and training gear.

What's failure?

2 different results and we'd be sitting 4th. Are the margins that small?

If the club thought he was the right man last month, then to be looking to sack him after 7 games is bonkers to me.

I mean, I wanted him gone after Millwall but the club made their decision to stick. To twist so soon is worrying.

And I still actually wanted him gone at the end of last season - when he had a 94.7% approval rating from Evertonians.

100%

I can picture Moshiri being ruthless, but he went all out to get his man in Koeman, then he went all out to get his man in Silva, I just wonder because he went all out to get Koeman, and then Silva, he's a bit reluctant to pull the trigger on Silva because it makes his judgement look flawed. Could also be that he still see's Silva as the man to take us forward like.

But it hasn’t has it? It’s over 45 league games.

Bloody hell lad.

After 38 league games they concluded he was the man. They backed him in the summer, and even tried for likes of Zaha and Doucoure.

If 7 games later, they're looking to sack him then you have to question their judgement, especially against this backdrop;

If the club are seriously thinking "lose to Burnley and he's sacked" as people think on here, then the club have lost confidence and surely should instead be thinking "who are we getting to replace him?"

Watford love this :), just joking.
My thoughts are this, we are at the beginning of the second season of upheaval, a revolving door of players in and out. Injuries to important, key personnel have badly disrupted, these players bedding in and the team and Silva's plans, tactics and formation.
We have to stop this disruption, chop and change and at least give Silva until the end of the season to see if he can improve, with all his players back. Then if no improvement get rid.

I expect him to be sacked if he manages to do worse than last season (8th) after spending more money to buy new players. Whether it’s next month or end of season.

But I’ve clearly addressed that here.

Your response was “they sacked Allardyce for finishing 8th”, which I could easily point out is ridiculous as Allardyce was so disliked he was as easy to get rid of than Koeman was.

Silva is meant to deliver now. This is the second season. And at this rate we will do worse than last season which comes to the point that there is no reason to retain him at the end of season, should we regress further.

I would rephrase that. We want Silva to deliver now.

What he's agreed with Brands and Moshiri as to what a success looks like this season may be different.
