This was posted this in the Gylfi thread, but it highlights a lot more issues with our tactics. There are no options for anyone when they have the ball, players are in their little designated areas of the pitch and do not move. Week in, week out, this is why we don't create any chances or aren't dynamic moving forward and its easy to see how our pattern of play goes

That's dreadful we have the ball and there is nobody making any effort to get forward.. I hate Liverpool as much as any of us but look at the way they are doing it when they have the ball everyone is on the move even players behind the guy with the ball are running forward.

Seamus and Morgan having a chat about what gingsters pasty they want at half time

A rough patch? If you think about it he’s had a 10-12 game “good patch “in his entire time in England. That 12 game run isn’t the norm, shipping goals from set plays is the norm, getting beat is the norm, getting zero points if his teams conceded the first goal is the norm he’s crap and using a 10 game run to try and suggest he isn’t is mental imo
So you think he should go then?

that creased me when I seen that, your teams trying to attack and you’re having a chat, then you have Dom with his back to play and Gylfi thinking “if I stand here, I’m marked and they won’t pass me the ball”

Gylfi has deffo made that position his own.

From expecting number 10's to ghost into space/into the box to ours just being a ghost eh

That can't be proven. There's no arrows indicating direction. They're all probably moonwalking.

Posted by me. It really does boil down to Sigurdsson though. If you watch ANY other player in that role, they don't do what he does in that scenario. He comes towards the ball, or at the very least he makes a run to get into space to possibly receive a pass.

Sigurdsson does neither, over and over again, every game. So an entire route of attack - up the centre, dragging players out of position, making space to get in behind or cause defensive errors - is completely gone.

It all stems from him. It's why we're toothless.

That said, it's all down to Silva why he continues to play. He's so bad he shouldn't even be on the bench at this point, but not only has he not been dropped; he's basically on 90 minutes of every game, when this season particularly he is, on form, hands down the single worst player I've seen as an Evertonian. No exaggeration, he's been that bad.

It;s a mess though isn't it?

I mean, this is the first time really we're into the DoF system as Walsh was continually overridden by Koemageddon.

What a ridiculous way to run this club. We need a manager making all the decisions. No other Everton manager would have stood for it.

Personally Dave I don’t see it being a big of an issue as you do. For me if anything the DOF is there to make it smooth runnings for the manager, so he can focus on managing his team and ensuring the day to day training and coaching and general on the pitch routines are being maintained.

Again I do think Brands left us a bit short in terms of transfers this summer and for that I will say he let us down. On the whole I think he’s done a very good job in terms of getting rid of the deadwood left behind by Koeman and Wash and doing a very good job in bringing in the players Silva has requested.

I just think people are looking for scapegoats rather than the bigger issue which is the man who sets his team up in training on an almost daily basis and instructs them on what to do on the pitch. Marco Silva.

It's not as simple as that.

Moshiri DID play a major part in deciding Tosun came in - we have documentary evidence on that; Koeman DID make most of the signings in his tenure...unless you think he came out in the press months before many of the players came in to pariase them and declare an interest in them was at Walsh's behest; and Brands has told us what the dynamic is here: he has final say on players coming in.

....I remember Walsh saying he has the power of veto over all signings. He was the DoF, nobody came in without his authorisation. He’s accountable for the bad and lauded for the good, just as Brands is.

I think most clubs work with a DoF these days, which means most managers are coaches these days, certainly in the top flight.
