2019/20 Marco Silva

Incredible that you think either of those would be employed even by our board. They are a level below even Sam Allardyce in the managerial hierarchy, genuinely two of the worst managers to ever work in football.

Well they aren’t are they. Both are very decent managers, as is Allardyce. You only have to look at their achievements in this country to see that they are capable of excellent things. I don’t want either of them, as I’ve said, but they aren’t bad managers.

It’s this arrogance, this snobbishness, that is utterly misplaced. All three are better managers than Marco Silva.

It’s fine to say you want to aspire to better, but then people are coming out with ridiculous shouts like Mourinho and Simeone.

As I said yesterday before I get tagged in the inevitable posts later -

We win today under the floodlights/baying crowd/ Goodison siren blah blah > follows that up by putting in a coward performance away from home and get beat by a dire Southampton side.

Rinse and repeat.

Depends who replaces him.

Every chance it gets worse before it gets better.

I honestly dont think we could do any worse mate - even Allardyce/Moyes would have us top half at present imo.

This fella is a complete busted flush who relies on our bearpit home form in getting points on the board. If the fans gave in and GP become a library we would get relegated - the siren/lift in the home atmosphere saved his job last year.

In all honesty, a defeat today probably has to be the end of his reign. 17th with 10 points after 11 games is relegation form, particularly when you then consider the fixtures we have coming up in December.

Really hope he can get a tune out of the players today and get them to push on. Wishful thinking, probably.

What achievements? Finishing 6th with Blackburn 15 years ago? Hughes and Pardew have been chased out of town by every single club they’ve been at in the last decade.

I understand you enjoy taking up contrarian points of view for the sake of it, but you need to draw a line somewhere far, far before trying to defend Hughes and Pardew as decent managers. Neither will be even thought about by a single Premier League club this season.

Hahahahahahahaha you honestly could not make it up.

Pardew was named Premier League manager of the year not long ago, the only English manager to do so, two FA Cup finals with two different clubs. Good record at Newcastle, Palace and West Ham (albeit all ended bitterly) he improved all three taking them either to Europe or to the brink of.

Mark Hughes took Blackburn from relegation candidates to finishing 6th and 7th in consecutive seasons, which is why City poached him.

At City he tore up their old team and built the basis of their title winning side with Kompany, Zabaleta, Lescott, Barry, Toure, Tevez and Adebayor. In the end, much like Ranieri at Chelsea, he didn’t get success quick enough for Abu Dhabi Group - but they won the league 18 months after he left.

In recent years, things may not have gone so well for them, but then all managers have patches like that. Mourinho was shocking at United. Wenger isn’t as highly thought of at Arsenal anymore. Are we to forget their achievements too just because they aren’t as fresh?

Literally the only one who left having being a qualified success anywhere was Hughes at Blackburn 11 years ago. He was an absolute disaster at City, spent £200m and they were about 10th when they sacked him, having finished 8th the season before.

You say Pardew improved all those clubs, but they were all deeply embroiled in relegation battles by the time he was punted. Fans of all of those clubs absolutely despise him. You have failed to make any sort of convincing argument here I’m afraid.

Hughes only left Blackburn barely 10 years ago and did very well there. If you’re to ignore what Hughes did at City then fair enough. I just disagree.

Same with Pardew, two FA Cup finals with Palace and West Ham and getting both into top half, with what he had to work with, is an achievement, irrespective of how those jobs ended.

I don’t want either of them here but in either case, I wouldn’t label either as “two of the worst ever Football managers”. Though, if you’re as dramatic as a hormonal teenage girl and desperate for attention, you perhaps might.

To each their own, eh.

Yeah, all about opinions isn’t it, my opinion is that neither of these two hopeless managers will be on the radar of any Premier League club ever again after each of their countless failures over the years. But that’s just my opinion so we’ll see how that goes.
