We’ve still not really seen what the team would look like with Gbamin in defensive midfield. Would we then see a team that Marco wants? Didn’t he say he wanted to play with one holding midfielder when he came in. So maybe we would see a midfield of Gbamin Siggy/Davies and Iwobi until the end of the season. I just don’t think we’ve seen this from us as of yet on a regular basis.

Of course we can compete. It doesn’t mean top managers will come here though. Leicester sacked Ranieri and ended up appointing Craig Shakespeare before taking a bit of gamble on Rodgers. The elite level managers weren’t exactly queueing round the block to go there where they? And that’s a team that had won the league and were in the latter stages of the champions league. In a much better place than we are now. Unfortunately we don’t have very much to offer at the moment.
Again I repeat, this doesn’t mean we can’t compete though. It just means that I doubt we’ll ever get an “elite” (use your own definition) manager. Doesn’t mean we can’t make good, clever signings and get a decent manager in it’s just they’ll always come with a degree of risk and no guarantee of success.
