Toffees boss Roberto Martinez this week signed off on what is an open ended arrangement in the expectation that an A-League stint will benefit players from Everton's renowned 'School of Science' development system, which has produced the likes Wayne Rooney, Leon Osman, Jack Rodwell and Ross Barkley.
"The School of Science boasts an Under-21 Academy and Development programme which is renowned as one of the most successful in England and this initiative, which will also allow for an exchange of best practises, may benefit young Everton players in coming years," a statement released by Everton read.
Mariners coach Phil Moss said: “We are in a very exciting rebuilding phase and to be able to establish a link with a club like Everton is testament to what we are about as a club.”
While the link-up is purely about players, rather than Everton investing cash in the Mariners, Central Coast owner Mike Charlesworth can only see positives.
"Everton is renowned for its youth system and their academy is recognised as one of the best in the Premier league," he explained.
"This is a good example of how the A-League is growing in stature globally.
"Everton are commercially one of the top 20 clubs in the world. It's wonderful news for both the Mariners' long-term as well as the league and we're looking to develop a very successful partnership.
"We like to think we have the academy with the best track record in Australia in producing players quality players in our own right.
"But having a couple of the Everton youngsters joining us will give us more options. We would expect them to be first team players for us.
