Pair locked in £11.2m tug of war

Everton and Tottenham Hotspur are locked in a £11.2m tug of war for Standard Liege midfielder ace Marouane Fellaini, according to reports.
The Sun claims that the Belgian champs turned down a bid from Spurs last week, but the Toffees feel they will be able to capture the 20-year-old.

Former Celic stiker Henrik Larsson has also been linked with Everton but the veteran has been quoted in his homeland, Sweden, ruling out a move from Helsingborgs.

Everton had been suggested as a possible destination as they desperately try to bolster their squad.

Meanwhile, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is in the hunt for another midfielder to add to his squad, which lost the likes of Alexander Hleb, Mathieu Flamini and experienced Brazilian Gilberto this summer.

Would love to see this guy at Everton but with another premiership club like Tottenham chasing him I can see where he will be going should he come to the premiership. What you guys think?

I'd love him here, exactly what we need to be honest. Good footballer, strong, athletic and good in the air.

I can't see us getting him though, I don't see how Everton could get a big player in 24 hours, it would be a hard thing to do.

Fingers crossed though, anything can happen.(y)

Spot on.

Lets not kid ourselves its not happening.

I guess all the misery of transfer speculation will be over by midnight. Then we can all get on with our lives and stop refreshing our browsers every 5 minutes in the hope of us signing a decent player. (n)

It's also in a couple of Belgian newspapers, so there could be something in it. Standard missed out on CL football, so maybe they have to sell in order to balance the books. Think it would be a great signing for Everton.

I've said it before, he ticks all the boxes of a superb Premier League holding role player.

Would be really impressed if we got him.

If I was the club I'd go all out for this one, it's a key position that needs strengthening and he's a bloody good player with alot of potential. Plus he's 6ft 4, he has the height that we desperatly need.

Please sign him.:(

We were rumoured to be sniffing round him last year when he was unheard of and wasn't in the spotlight. Now he's been playing ace for Liege and has been watched by more clubs it'll mean he's gonna cost more and highly likely that he'll join someone else
