Marouane Fellaini

As I've said many times, I'm not anti Fellaini. If I see good things from players I'll praise them and stick by them.

I tried to do that with Fellaini in those early days, I remember defending him when Cal was coming in with the early bashing. I was doubting him myself but I was trying to keep strong.

But whilst he did start to show some promise I still saw major deficiencies there. And it isn't down to style, I've rated laid back players like Yakubu and Fernandes in the past.

But I have seen promise of late and he'd be in my team at the moment. Has he done enough to convince me he's going to be a big player for us? Not yet but there's a long season ahead and alot of time for him to develop and improve.

Believe Toccy, Believe.

Point is, I think some need to get out of the rut of sticking by their anti Fellaini principle, so to speak.

Some need to get past his apparent languid style, his hair and mainly, his price tag. He's a big player for us, a player who will only get better.

Yes (y)

Fecking Unbelievable! I can't believe we are here discussing this subject...(n) Pass them the bleach and as for Cal saying he would accept £9M, someone make sure he get's it first.:@

He's also just a kid and people forget that. :)

Marouane’s a Peter Crouch midfield player if you like
Close the thread, Moyes tells it how it is.

I just found that, pretty sure TBizla has called him that many times. It's remarkable the number of things me and him come out with that Moyes ends up repeating at one point or another.

Fair play to Marouane for playing with wisdom teeth [Poor language removed] tho, it's horrible stuff.

Also, Fellaini is slow and immobile. If he raced your nan to get up out of a chair, turn around and get a kitkat from the biscuit tin, he would lose.

I change my mind every week, I think we just expect more from a £15m player, clearly we have paid for potential, who knows, 3 years from now he could have put on a few stone and be the rock of the prem.

Players dont go past him, they side step him, hes slow in the tackle, hes slow covering the ground, he basically cant tackle, last season he was sticking his leg in, thats why he got so many yellows, this season he just waves them as they go past him.

Even the BATE players just side stepped him every single time.

Excellent in the hole and as a target man and excellent at gettin the ball to feet and laying it off, but he can not do anything defensive.

I don't get the slow tag.
He runs all over the pitch, and looks pretty nifty in full flight to me.

Its a bit of a myth, he has decent pace - not lighting but probably slightly above average compared tomany central midfeilders - if you watch him though he is a very slow starter. I dont think you necessarily need pace to be a central midfeilder an engine is far more important and he has the best in our team probably along with Pienaar and Baines. Players like Roy Keane, Lee Carsley, Peter Reid - their positioning and closeing down space was far more effective then having pace.

He's doing alright at the moment, a bit more consistent over 90 minutes.

If we were to revert to 4-4-2 he'd be on the bench though. He's improving and may sexualise us all by the end of the season, hope so.

He's our slowest player, that is a fact to be honest. Tim Cahill said that himself and he trains with him day in day out. And we are hardly a quick side, we have one of the slowest midfields in the League.

Pace isn't a must but if your not quick you have to have decent acceleration, you need to be quick and tenacious over the first few yards. Arteta and Neville are for example and that's what Fellaini lacks.

To be fair to him he's such a big unit, it's not his game and it never will be. Similar to Tom Huddlestone at Spurs really.

If he does sort his positioning out then we won't have a problem but he's not a player who sits and holds. He's a drifter, he's always looking to move forward and get into the box.
