A loss is a loss. I take no joy from an Everton defeat regardless of how "entertaining" it was. Be it a 5-4 defeat or a 1-0 defeat im not walking away from that match happy.

This 100%!There's a fair bit of revisionism about the Martinez regime going on around here, just because the Koeman reign is falling apart at the seams.Well sorry but it's time to burst a few bubbles and disturb the Martinez love in going on here! The first season was great, but it was followed by two consecutive seasons of tripe and failure. In his final season he had us in 13th place at the time of his sacking. We collected a measly total of 44 points, with the worst home record in our modern history. This in a season when Arsenal Chelsea Man United and Man City weren't at the races.I don't hate Martinez. He seems to be a nice enough bloke, but the failure to build on that 72 point season and subsequent collapse was alarming.Seriously some people here could do with a bucket of ice cold water thrown over their heads.

Yes but at least you may stand a chance of winning by having shots and attacking etc....

That was the problem with Martinez. No use scoring 4 goals, when through your own stupidity your conceding 5 down the other end.Koemans dour brand of football will not get Everton results or trophies. But neither did Martinez's brainless kamikaze attacking football. The evidence of that was in front of our very eyes. And before someone say's 72 points, Koeman will probably leave here, with the same amount of trophies Martinez won for Everton.Zero nada nothing!

They need a good draw. They have the firepower to open it up and beat 1 or 2 top teams but a run of them and they eventually will be out of luck. And they better avoid the Germans. They'll be slaughtered tactically

Martinez had a higher ceiling but lower basement than Koeman, I reckon that is fair enough to say.

If the two of them will never win anything with us then I would prefer to have some goals with my utter dross I reckon.

Or...just get someone good.

It's still crap though. It's just a case of being crap with a bit of style and hoping for the best. Just because the dross we play right now is horrendous doesn't make the showboating mess we played under Martinez any less a joke. At the end of the day I'll take the mist boring 1-0 win imaginable over a "exciting" 5-4 loss 0r 4-4 draw. We won't get results under Koeman because he's an idiot but that's no reason to pretend things would be better under El Fraudo because it wouldn't be.

Cant remember that happening under Martinez. And the amount of 4-3 games we were involved in can be counted on one hand.

El Fraudo is our best PL era manager. El Fraudo is at the World Cup. El Fraudo has won a trophy in the last 5 years.

The feller had us playing some great football (and winning football) for the first 18 months he was here; then the wheels fell off.

I wish him all the success he can achieve at the world cup finals with the very decent squad he has. Belgium have conceded 6 goals in 9 games so far in qualification. I suppose that underlines what can be achieved when you dont have to rely on muck like Baines and Jagielka to defend for you.

Both Joe Royle and David Moyes were better managers for us and achieved more here during the premier league era Dave. You can say he was better then Mike Walker and Walter Smith and Koeman if you want and I'd not argue about it but they were all just verying degrees of crap for us.

I didn't say it wasn't! You do not have to show your utter hatred for the bloke every single time!

I would take a 1-0 win over a loss or draw, anyone with brain would! That's not what was being discussed though. I would take a 4-5 loss ahead of a 0-1 loss I suppose as at least we would have had some form of enjoyment during the game. Ideally though you dont want either.

What did David Moyes "achieve"?

Royle of course, he won something!

This is it in a nutshell, ain't it? We could play some great footy when we were on.

But when we hit the basement under Brown Shoes, it was truly abysmal stuff. Yes, even worse than now. How soon we forget West Ham when Rom missed the penalty and everyone in the building knew, without a shadow of a doubt, we were going to lose a 2-0 lead in the last 15 minutes?

I really couldn't care less if we lose 5-4 or 1-0. It's still a defeat and therefore not entertaining to me. A 4-2 defeat would annoy me just as much as a 2-0 defeat on so on and so on. I don't enjoy any part of a game we lose, it's not exciting to play kamikaze like football for the entertainment of the neutrals.
