What a man
I no Martinez has praised Moyes and rightly so he did create a foundation to build on, but what Martinez done last season just shows what a limited manager Moyes was. It was always easier imo to manage in the way Moyes did, which was do defend deep with a bank of four and a bank of five in front of them then frustrate the opposistion. I think there's a saying somewhere that it's easier to destroy than it is to create ( not that Moyes destroyed but for me he wasn't creative ). I got the impression with Moyes that he was waiting for things to happen, but with Roberto he is looking to make things happen. With virtually the same players who under Moyes couldn't string more that 3 passers together before lumping it up to Cahill or felli, he has us playing football that for me is a breath of fresh air, there wasn't many games were I came away from Goodison disappointed. I use to walk away from Goodison in the last three years Moyes was in charged shaking my head in disbelief at what I watched. This by the way is not a pop at moyes I think for the majority of the time he did great, but for me he reached the limit of his ability three years ago. Roberto has made my sat nights good nights once again, instead of sitting at home with a gob on me because of the way we played long may it continue.
I get the impression that if it had gone all pear shaped, he'd be the type of bloke who'd wear all the blame too! Not tried to say a bad thing about Moyes or the squad.Again it's nice to see him give Moyes some credit, most new managers walk into a job and say whats wrong with the squad and how it needs this and that adding. Martinez has always been consistent and said he inherited a very good squad and that shows a lot more class but it also puts him under a bit of pressure because if we'd have done worse than what we did under Moyes it would have been down to him. It can only be good that he has so much self belief and is prepared to push and test himself.
ste .the thread reads....we are everton....Humility, class, realism, ambition. That charlatan across the park isn't fit to polish his brown shoes.
That says it all for me, as much as David Moyes blotted his copy book with us towards the end i think as Roberto said, the foundations were in place to progress. Bobby,s got the baton now and hes gonna power home to the finish.pretty sure moyes won us over with his announcement of the peoples club soon as he signed though.
he was like a breath of fresh air when he came in and demanded that the first team did a lap around the ground before his first game.
won many accolades given to him by his management opos
ition.got us from the bottom to regular 4/5 positions for ten years.
fans forget that he was held back financially in his pursuit of player targets on many occasions yet he stayed loyal to his chairman and the club.
surely no one denied him his opportunity to move on when his time came as maybe both parties were expecting this eventuality.
sure he still loves everton..who wouldnt after ten years in charge.
hope bobby is the answer to our prayers but lets hope also that he gets some backing from above.
seems a loyal man as david was once but times have changed since then.
spurs have had 11 managers in 13 years.
others will be casting an envious glance towards us this season.
he is not only the most good looking cool and the most articulate of most in the prem.he is also very astute in his dealings.
to move from fifth this year to our aim of c/l qualification next season requires some backing from senior management and lets hope that is forthcoming.
