Played 5 times when we play the same not good enough players week in week out!

Dowell has got lovely skill and close control Joey, but is one paced and wants too much time on the ball.

Hence why he seems more suited to the Championship,

Holgate has shown that he can cut it in the Premier League, plus he has that little bit of snide that is lacking in virtually all of our players.

However, he is still not the finished article and would need to brought on slowly again, rather than thrown straight in.

Like when we loaned Coleman out - for a wasted two seasons at Blackpool- suffering Tony Hibbert at right back ...
No local players get alook in those who do get slated on here every Tom Davies. ....

I'll be honest I thought the loan out was the start of the end for Holgate. That being said, he has played very well while at West Brom, played at full back and played in an area where there are lots of question marks currently.

Football, particularly for young players is a bit like a set of sliding doors moments that need to go for them. At present it looks as if there is a series of things going for Holgate.

You have to factor in, come the summer we don't now how much money we will have and there is some suggestion money may be a bit tighter (it's very hard to judge). We do have a coach and a DOF want to maximise the value of younger players.

It's all set up for him to come back, in the short term as a right back who can potentially be our first choice and have an opportunity to stamp his authority on the position. A bit like Stones it may be his opportunity to get into the team regularly. The quality of displays he's shown at West Brom in many ways make him our best right back currently.

Often loaning players out doesn't work too well. I do think though, when loaning a player out for a position you know becomes available further down the line makes sense.

Technically good footballer, but I always thought he looked like one of those players who has attributes that lend themselves to either the full back or centre half positions, but not enough of them that he could pick one of those positions and actually excel in it. For all his ability on the ball and history as a centre back, he doesn't seem to be tall or commanding enough to play that position and for all his technical ability (see the cross at the weekend), he clearly isn't comfortable/physically able to carry out the attacking duties of the modern full/wing-back. Galloway was very similar, with far less natural talent.

I think he's far more likely to have a good career as a centre back, so I hope he finds a club where he can nail down a starting place, I just don't think that'll be in the top half of the premier league and certainly not here.

Good player but not great.

Got a feeling he will be sold in the summer.
He will be a great player for a club lower then us, but just a average player for a better team.

Bit of a Jonny Evans about him
