He's just not good enough. He got overhyped after a short run of decent games and is not a top defender. He makes a high amount of errors for this level. Tonight is not a surprise for me. We saw a similar display from him against weaker opposition when Fulham beat us comfortably.

We have too many players who either think they are far better than they are, or our fans think are far better than they are.

The way we overhype players is incredible. Even our top players are absolutely run of the mill Prem players. Someone like Konsa at Villa is miles better than Holgate.

All gone down hill since pre-season when he got injured doing exactly same thing as tonight.

Apart from Keane, none of our CBs can pass ball vertically, makes press so easy/effective against us.

150 appearances in football now so shouldn't be prone to brain farts. But he commits a couple every game, be it getting caught in possession, making stupid tackles, and my favourite just kicking the ball out of play under very little pressure.

Utility players like Holgate can fill in right back, centre back and even holding midfield, but will never nail down a regular position. I just can't see anything that makes me want to see him long term.
