2020/21 Mason Holgate

Not a right back. We lose so much threat because he isn’t good enough going forward.

Seems to be a strange climate of moaning this season. Ancelotti has us challenging European spots yet he’s only ever one game of not winning away from being questioned by some. Holgate has been part of an absolutely fantastic defence recently that is one for he best in the league for defending and scoring set pieces yet he is also now taking flak from some. Even DCL was getting a bit of it the other day. There’s plenty of targets in this Everton team thy have done nothing for years (Pickford Siggurdson Davies Bernard etc.) without us having a go at Holgate, a league who has done nothing but scrap for a place in the team ever since he joined.

Think the problem is consistency and that applies to several players. It’s just the frustration of watching fantastic performances one week and then the same player (or players) looking like average Championship players the next, for no apparent reason, esp against some of the worst teams I the league like The horse punchers the other week.

He's not good enough going forward or defending to play RB, and he's way down the list at CH. Seamus with his arthritic knees is still better at all aspects than him

I do like holgate and he's filled in well but a rb is a must in the summer..

Woeful tonight and for me should be 4th choice at centre back. At least he's making it even more obvious that a right back is urgently needed.

Gets caught out in any high press , needless free kicks and his distribution is terrible.
Hope he turns it round but thats gonna take some doing.

Didnt think the free kick for the 3rd was a free kick...seemed very harsh.

Last 30mins he played very well imo.

The big question is though C is Coleman better? Imo no which makes Holgate the best rb we have unless Godfrey ( who let's face it we could put up front and I'm sire he'd be the best slotter in the squad) moves there.
