I blame @COYBL25 lolMaybe young Mason ought to stop taking them then because they're obviously having an adverse affect of him.

He’s not commanded a place at CB over these last few years. Keane has. Mina and Godfrey have made stronger claims than Holgate. He needs to have a sit on the bench and have a think why he’s there.
Just not even close to being a right back, can't cross, can't turn quickly when opposing winger runs at and past him ( at which point he invariably just gives up ), gives stupid free kicks away and regularly booked for tackles in which he flies in ( almost certainly will be getting a red card soon). Is he a good enough centre half? Not sure on that front either. But what an awful decision by Ancellotti and Brands to let Kenny go out on loan. Possibly threw away Europe with that one as let's face it the right side of the team is a broken shambles.
And the last time Holgate was CB and Coleman right back, we lost 2-0 to Fulham? To be fair before he picked up his injuries during the * period he was first choice and Keane was his partner. I think he's only had 3 games at CB since. His problem came because neither Keane or Mina can play at RB and initially Godfrey was playing LB and he has now played well in the middle. 5 games in this season everyone was whingeing about Mina. However in the wall as it was called he thrived. Intersting to see how Mina will get on with Coleman alongside him last time it happened we lost 2-0 to Newcastle.

Personally would play Mina CB and Godfrey RB and that gives us an attacking threat from set pieces too.

Thing is...Godfrey was horrific at RB and Mason is more comfortable there.
Godfrey did ok at left back and it would defy logic that he wouldn’t be ok at right back (should be better tbh) if he played a few games there.Thing is...Godfrey was horrific at RB and Mason is more comfortable there.

Godfrey only played one full game at RB he was new and the whole team was poor. The only other time he played there was about 65 minutes and he did ok. Now he is settled he might be better. His crossing can't be any worse. He also gets the ball up the field quickly when he runs with it.
As mentioned in the other post...there would be no real difference in the two even given a run of games.
Based on him as a LB....Provide very little going forward, good defensively.
It's still square legs round holes.
unpopular opinion but i don't rate him and i don't see him having a long-term future at this club.
he's far too lackadaisical, his passing is piss poor, when he plays in the full back role he would rather defend than make runs down the wing which allows the opposition to push forward more, he gives away silly fouls in dangerous places.
am i surpised to see us linked with more central defenders in the summer
not really
