I'm just thinking with Mina back alongside Keane it frees Godfrey up. I agree he isn't the answer but Coleman and Holgate have both had chances. Even if he's just a slight improvement it could make the difference. He offered nothing going forward at LB because full backs usually go outside so he would have been crossing on his weak foot. At Right Back if he goes outside he will be on his natural foot. Doesn't guarantee a good cross but it improves the chances.

The issue still would be getting central defenders to be attacking players and relying on them to do provide something.

Anyone expecting Holgate or Godfrey to venture forward and deliver anything is wishful thinking IMO.

Personally always felt either one should go into midfield and just kick people.

So who would you play at RB given the options available?

To me you either go back to Holgate Mina Keane Godfrey and revert to being more defensive.

Or go 3 at the back. However 3 at the back with our midfield problems is a disaster unless you have Coleman and Digne as wingbacks - Allan and Holgate/Godfrey in midfield (similar to when Big Dunc took charge, had Holgate falling into a back 4 when needed from midfield)

Bit like Venables did in Euro 96 lol

I think 3 at the back with your said wing backs is an option it would also fix the midfield problem as we could play Allan and Davies as a 2 in the middle we can then either play James or Sigurdsson behind a front 2 of DCL and Richarlison or a front 3 with James on the right.

He's a CB he has been decent there but his lack of passing and delivery are shown up when the onus is on us to attack. He shouldn't be criticised too harshly it's not his fault Coleman can't play every game anymore and we didn't address RB.

Michael Keane.

So all the whoppers slating Holgate can then turn on their false God.

Sometimes when I see him on the ball I think he might be a viable option. Then I think my God he would get turned inside out.

I don't want any of out players slated except if they are exceptionally bad so Keane needs left in the middle. I think the folk on here just need to realise covering a non favoured position isn't easy.

Some of them wanted Godfrey sent back to the Championship after his performance at RB against Southampton. Knee jerk reactions that is why I couldn't come on here on Saturday night its so extreme.
