Played well yesterday, he's something of an enigma, you watch him sometimes and think, there's a player in there, you watch him other times and think he's just not good enough.

He'll get a good few games now with the injuries to Godfrey and Mina, so hopefully, Frank can make a decision as to whether he is worth persevering with. He is still young in central defender terms.

That tackle yesterday on James who was through on goal was top notch. I don't mind holgate as much as others, when he plays like he did yesterday he can be good, it's about keeping it simple in defence which he did, just smashing it out when he needed too
Always had a soft spot for him myself. Having a tonne of different managers and playing in different positions/formations cant have helped his development.

Just scares me with ball at feet, some of his decision making and passes this year which resulted in turnovers in the wrong places have hurt us.

Think Holgate realises it's his "last chance saloon", he played now under? Is it 7 managers and besides Beinitiz had peaks with all of them, he knows the club wanted to sell him to Brighton in the Summer and last week so he will want to prove he worth hanging on to. Think he has confidence issues as much as Keane but whereas Keane hides and goes to pieces Holgate puts on that cocky arrogant personna to help him cope. He obviously feeling good as he posted on Instagram first time this season, hopefully his form continues.
I think he made some mistakes under the previous managers early in their realm, so he was probably casted aside. That didn't help with his confidence.

Under Frank, so far he has impressed, I guess he left a good impression. I think the possession-based style suits him better. Being on the ball has always been Holgate's stronger traits. He is still shaky on defense, but I do see him trying to be aggressive and make some sliding challenges. Against Leeds, he stepped up and clear a lot of crosses into the box. Good performance and I hope he continues this form.

He has all the tools, just seems to lack focus. Is it confidence? attitude? Lifestyle??

In Frank Lampard he couldn’t have a better example of how a professional should conduct himself. And Paul Clemment is highly rated too.

Based on what we’ve seen to date, I’d let him go, but if these guys can sort his head out & help him realise his potential, then bonus.
