He wasn't that good at West Brom, he endeared himself to the fans because he would hang around on the pitch 10 mins after a game but he gave too many free kicks away and his crossing was poor from right back.
Thought he made it into the team of the season? (Might have read that on here though so significant chance it was nonsense!)

love to know ow many players we have given away or let go for next to nothing past few years
Letting players go for free is one of the things that has got us into this current mess. We were never going to get back some of the full fees for many of the players we have over payed for, but at least if we could have got some sort of token fee on a few of them it would have made a huge difference. Even more so given the high wages many are on, it means we are likely to see a few more walk away on frees yet. It's the type of recruitment you wouldn't even get from someone playing Football Manager let alone at a REAL football club, shocking imo.

He would have made team of the season as when he came he played every match at RB and until then various players were filling in for that position, it was a decent team we had with Gayle and Rodriguez scoring about 45 goals between them. It's interesting to see how we played him at RB compared to how Carlos played him while he was your Manager. With Carlos he hardly crossed tge half way Mark whereas for us his offensive qualities was much better than his defensive, think if you count goals from throw ins he had about 6 assists that season

£70k / week according to this article. Precisely the sort of contract that puts in bother with P&S…..
Fortunately if we can rob someone of the suggested £18m then we will have done well.
Strange one as iirc Coleman was talking him up as having captains qualities. Seems he ability doesn’t quite match his leadership skills.

Tbf even 9m atm would be a big bonus!

I expect if we sell him we’ll get £5m maximum.

£3-5m this summer of there is a taker, but most likely due to his wages will be a loan with us paying half.

The Everton Way.
£18m down to £3m in a handful of posts. Are you guys on the board?!

Would it? I don't know FFP but say we signed Bolaise for £30m for a round figure on a 4 year deal and sold him for £2.5m on his last year of his contract, isn't that a £5m loss on the books? As opposed to him seeing out his contract and he goes on a free and that means we haven't lost or gained?

Any money coming in is better than no money. It's the wages thing that's killed us ultimately, too many bang average players on massive salaries thus making it nigh on impossible to move them on.

Good lord, Dyche must hate Patterson.
No. He doesn't hate him. He just thinks he's a terrible full back.

It's not that hard to understand really.

There hasn't been a manager of this club who's wanted him over Coleman. That should tell you everything you need to know.

Whatever happens this season he has no future at the club.

The thing about Holgate is I actually like him and his attitude. You can tell he wants to win and isn’t afraid to get stuck into the opposition or teammates to get it. Mina has the same positive attitude, we miss it in the rest of the squad with too many timid cowards, such as Keane.

The problem is he’s utterly crap and doesn’t have the ability to play in the Premier League, Mina’s problem is he’s actually made of glass.

I can 100% see Holgate being a good player and captain for a mid table Championship side in future but that’s his level.
