I really rate this lad but again like dcl find it laughable people are having a pop at him for not being able to wing a ball over when not playing in his natural position. I said the other week it's frustrating that Holgate can't put a ball in as he is often the spare man we create but that's not his fault. Doesn't get caught out one on one and even when he does get squared up seems to get back and nick it off the toe before the ball come in. I am surprised Koeman hasn't given him a go at centre half since the 7th place trophy was bagged but would like to see him play there for the last two games with Kenny at rb or wing back to see whether we can trust Kenny for half a season next year until Coleman is back to do the offensive and defensive work required and hopefully let Holgate develop in his natural position.

Holgate has been fine and a prospect. Should be given more games at centre back and allowed to develop playing there.
Stones played right back a few times before getting his place in the middle.

As for crossing the ball, most of our squad a rank at it.

Looks a better right back than Stones did. Hope he gets a chance in the middle in the last couple of games and we play Kenny at right back. Do them both good for the future.

Maybe I just understand technical ability isn't equal across all footballing positions. Can't think of many CB's in the world that could whip in a decent cross.

Gattuso is one of the best players I've ever seen in his role but his footballing ability was pretty minimal.
That anyone can say you wouldnt expect a prem player not to be able to cross the ball, I find bewildering. Tho its all about opinions so well just have to agree to disagree on this one

Yes I think he's done really well. Coleman is one of off not the best right back in the country. I actually think he is if not our best player our most consistent. So to be having a go at a very young player who is out of position, just shows how little people know. I didn't see the match yesterday, (work) apart from the Derby, I think he's done really well. As I have said in another thread, we've got three youngsters in this starting eleven. What do people honestly expect, a world class right back?
