I appreciate what Moyes done, but hope im not the only one, but i feel that our Youth has come on leaps and bounds since Roberto has took over, anyone else the same?

yes, and luckily we have a manager who will be willing to give them first time opportunities and giving them a proper chance first instead of buying a replacement.

in his later years moyes just seemed to have a scattergun approach with no real plan. i mean he would start barkley away at arsenal, completely out of the blue and then we wouldn't see him again for two months.

if we compare the two martinez has a more positive mindframe where he will look at what our players CAN do, as well as our team, whereas moyes would worry about the mistakes they made and probably be more focused on stopping what the opposition COULD do.

Well, the manager can't really control how raw talent works out at the academy, it's up to chance i guess.
Considering the number of youth getting chances in the first team i'd wager Martinez is marginally better at bringing up the talent, but Moyes' record with that is decent as well. Rooney, Rodwell, Barkley, Anichebe and the signing of Stones is down to Moyes, really.

I'd rather think a lot of the difference of the last year or so may come down to Alan Irvine leaving, but the current academy director is on interim basis and is poised to leave and be replaced right around these times: http://www.evertonfc.com/news/2015/05/14/devine-to-leave-academy

This is a good point though.

The stop-start introduction of Barkley, the handling of Duffy and McAleny in the same manner, Baxter's complete and utter failure, always letting the young ones know they're on a tightrope if they don't perform to standards. Martinez seems to be giving them a lot more leeway, faith and confidence.

That's just a question of style though. I have read a lot of statements about Moyes and how strict he was with disciplining players that don't perform or follow orders.

Nope. I just don't see any evidence for it. There is a lot more talk about it but in terms of players on the pitch not so much. A few sub appearances from Browning and Galloway in due to injury.

That said it is encouraging that he is talking up the youth prospects.

talking them up and actually using them regularly are different things though.

Stones Barkley del garbutt browning, and the area I think is most improved is devising individual yearly plans for their development. It's much better the loaning out of youth now too
